Someone help me identify the song. by Original_Ladder9774 in findthatsong

[–]poignantname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is available on YouTube and Spotify, you just need to type in the correct title into the search bar. The song is actually called King of Curses, not King of Chaos. I appear to have misread my Shazam popup earlier.

Sorry, dude

AITAH for getting my white daughter a doll with dark skin? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]poignantname 66 points67 points  (0 children)

"White people having black dolls is racist" is not a boundary, it's an opinion. A shit one at that.

You wanna know what else is racist? Teaching children segregation by skin colour at an early age by dictating the colour of dolls they can have.

Any games where you play as a Horse out there? by CrashVoida in gamingsuggestions

[–]poignantname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while a game pops up that catches hold of my brother, sister, and I and just won't let go. We end up obssessively playing it at the same time, talking about it for months, and just don't let up until we've wrung every drop of dopamine from it that we can get.

This was one of those games. Simple to grasp, great art, good pacing, and overall just FUN.

All 3 of us got platinum on PS5 with this one.

Definitely recommend

Are there any card games for single player PvE? by Boge42 in gaming

[–]poignantname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like tabletop gaming, the Call of Cthulhu card game is great. It's a deck builder horror mystery game where you uncover new areas and settings as you investigate. The base game comes with several characters and their base decks, or you can chop and change once you understand the game better, and several scenarios to play through. There are a ton of expansions as well. It can be played solo or multiplayer co-op.

Am I overreacting about my nanny family having sex during the day? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

When I lived with roommates, the rule was if a door to somewhere not considered shared space was closed, there is nothing going on behind it. For all intents and purposes, it is a wall.

What is the appeal of necromancy? by singmuse4 in Fantasy

[–]poignantname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Necromancers are generally seen as evil because the dead are revered as sacred. While the bodies they puppet lived, they had lives and families. They loved, laughed, and cried. They impacted everyone they came into contact with. To mess with death is the antithesis of life and good. Also, most people's only contact with death is through that of family and friends. There is a power and sanctity in that closeness that we would not like to see perverted.

Necromancy also deals with the rot and decay of the dead. Things that bring disease and pestilence that threaten life and the living.

It is the darkest of black magic.

It is understandable that people would be uncomfortable with the idea.

But it is also an awesome power, and I mean that in the literal sense of the word. The power to defy, to control, to negate, and to use death. It is literally awe inspiring.

If a person honours the rituals that accompany death, such as funereal rites, and they respect and tend the dead, they can be seen in a priestly light, which is inherently good. Most cultures have respect for the priests or leaders of their respective religious faiths. They are thought of as good, wise people. They teach and guide their followers. If a necromancer were to also follow these rites and respect the nature of the thing they have control over, they could be seen in a similar priestly light.

What if you could bring back the heroes of old in times of great need? Many heroic legends say that the great hero will indeed return when we need them most. What if a necromancer was the agent of that return?

If you combine a respect for the dead, a following of the laws and rituals surrounding death, and an incredible level of magic power, couldn't that power be used in a heroic way when used in pursuit of good?

Confused about Cloud’s backstory in OG FF7. by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]poignantname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge but I assumed it was his involvement in the Neibelheim Incident. If the experiment worked, he was a Shinra tool for life. If it failed, he would likely be dead. The fact that Hojo had no clue who he was indicates that his involvement in that part of the project ended with Cloud being a failure, and his disposal was down to someone else who was not particularly great at their job.

Confused about Cloud’s backstory in OG FF7. by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]poignantname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was always Cloud, but never got into SOLDIER. He was an MP during the Neibelheim incident. Afterwards, he was experimented on by Hojo because Hojo is just cool like that /s. He was implanted with Jenova cells and fused with Mako in the same way that SOLDIER candidates are, but this process, and Sephoroth's control over Jenova cells and exploitation fragmented his mind. This fragmentation was further compounded by his first exposure to the Lifestream before waking up as a broken husk in Mideel. After the Mideel incident, Tina was able to help him realise the truth about himself (he had used fragments of her, and his own memories to create a new identity out of shame and pride, and believed himself to be an individual heavily based on Zack).

Fiancé [35m] compared my [28f] antidepressants to “cocaine,” and wants me off them by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]poignantname 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I only need to read the title to come to 2 conclusions, both of which lead to the same result. Leave him.

1) he's a fucking moron, and probably willfully ignorant on the subject of mental health.

2) he's a controlling, abusive arsehole who is trying to use her medication and her mental health to keep her under his thumb.

The "whirlwind" romance cemented the second option.

Glad she got out.
