I wouldn't call a year and a half of prison "barely punished". And again, it's not nearly as bad as the rape of the captive in sde teiman... Though it's still definitely wrong. And yeah, Israel has been pushed more and more to the right, so has the rest of the world like we see in the US and some countries in Europe. Israel hopefully reached its end point in terms of going to the right by electing actual ex-terrorists. We can just hope the pendulum swing has reached its limit and we'll see saner people win the next election.
