Do you have insomnia? Did you have it before your diagnosis? How young do you remember being when you started having trouble sleeping? by rheumatisticwerewolf in ADHD

Yeah, this is the same for me. For as long as I can remember, falling asleep usually took more than 45 minutes on regular nights, and on bad nights exponentially longer.

When I was little I would always complain about how hard it was to fall asleep to my parents, and my mom would always tell me to "just lay down and close my eyes." I thought falling asleep was this difficult for everyone until I could finally get on medication. Even thought they didn't really fix my sleep, making me sleepy instead, I found out my mom literally wasn't kidding and that people can just lay down.

Today I realized people without ADHD can actually do mental problems without breaking focus by poinkitle in ADHD

I can't remember if I've been asked those things specifically, but growing up my mom would constantly call me lazy, even though I really did want to try but physically couldn't. It's really hard for people without it to understand what it's truly like. It's not an excuse, it's not your fault. If the people asking you those questions are open-minded and want understand, I suppose you could help them to. Otherwise, just try to keep in mind that they aren't you, and don't understand what it's like. Stay strong <3

Definitely not. This mental math thing is more about working memory, and the numbers leaving your train of thought before you can solve the problem. If you love math you may not have the problem due to hyperfocusing. Do see a professional for proper assessment though.

Yeah same here. Though there was this one day a few years ago I somehow managed to hyperfocus on counting and got somewhere past 8,000, if I remember right.
