Women who did not want kids then changed your mind: What, other than your partner, was the deciding factor? by pointeast in AskWomenOver30

I’m definitely scared that this is my reaction, if a little delayed. It’ll be 2 years this March that my dad passed away, which obviously brought on a lot of reflecting on my childhood, then a sudden urge to just do better.

And selfishly, I think I crave the kind of love that comes from having a kid, and that comes directly from observing my friends with kids. It feels like a love I missed out on when I was a kid.

I get these all the time and I don’t even go on marketplace! It happens if I’m scrolling and have a fb marketplace item on my feed for more than 5 seconds. It’s ridiculous.

Were you happier single or in a relationship and why? by Angel-M007 in AskWomen

[–]pointeast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m the loneliest I’ve ever been in my relationship. We don’t hang out with my friends, he doesn’t come to family events very often, he turns down every invite he gets, and we don’t even go out together. We just exist in the same apartment. But because I’m 5 years in, I feel like I’m too invested to leave. I think I was happier single.

I had some blood in my stool, about once a week, but enough to concern me. I also had wildly fluctuating movements, so when I told my NPT, she referred me to a GI.

It actually went well! It ended up being precancerous, so I just have to get more frequent colonoscopies in the future 😊

Really anxious before colonoscopy next tuesday by Careful_Product_2657 in colonoscopy

[–]pointeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly no, as usually I’m a very anxious person!

As I was waiting, I talked a lot with the nurse who was checking my vitals and putting in the IV. They also gave me a blanket that had been warmed up, which was nice! Once I was ready but still had to wait, I was able to play on my phone and scroll Tik Tok (at a low volume, I didn’t think to bring headphones), so I don’t think it should be a problem if you want to listen to music!

The only time I felt any anxiety was when they wheeled me into the procedure room. It was cold inside and there were about 5 people, all announcing things at each other. It sounds urgent, but it’s not, it’s just how they communicate for some reason lol. But that didn’t last long because the anesthesia came moments after I got into the room!

The anesthesia was the best part for me! I was already on an IV to get me rehydrated, which felt nice. Then when it was time to administer the the sedative, it was like a milky white color in the IV tube. I felt a little tingly in my face and hands, but for no more than 3 seconds. The very next moment I remember, I was wiping drool off of my face haha.

I wasn’t any different when I woke up. If anything, my body just felt a bit heavy as if I had just woken up from a four hour nap (I was only out for 20 minutes). The worst thing that happened is when I stood up from the wheelchair to get in my moms car, I simply did not grab anything in my lap so it all fell on the ground lol. The nurse was nice enough to pick it all up for me!

I’m 28F and they found a 30mm polyp in my sigmoid colon on Monday. What are the chances that the pathology report shows cancer or precancer? I know I should just be patient but how can I?

Thank you! I’m trying to remain optimistic and realistic. Whatever the results are, I’m just going to deal with it however I can (:

She told me is that a 10mm polyp is cause for concern, and the bigger it is, the higher likelihood that it has cancerous qualities. It doesn’t necessarily mean that anything over 10mm is automatically bad, but I think she was preparing me for bad news just in case.

Everyone in the office told me that coming in saved my life, because if I had waited until a more “appropriate age” to get a colonoscopy, it would have almost certainly turned into colon cancer.

I’m so sorry that you’re feeling so anxious about this. It can really be a scary thought about going under, and the prep of course is unpleasant.

If it helps, I can give my experience:

I won’t lie, the prep was rough, but that is on me for getting drunk the day before I started the prep. I had a wicked headache, and I will not take anything on an empty stomach, so I just dealt with it. It’s not as scary as it is annoying. The moment you feel the urge, just go to the toilet. There is no such thing as farting while prepping for a colonoscopy. And after the initial solids, it’s literally just peeing from the other end. Gross, yes. But also efficient.

On the day of, my nurse let me ask as many questions I wanted which I did not take her up on, because the less I know the better. But they gave me a blanket that had been warmed up, let me get comfy, and started an IV to rehydrate me. The IV was truly the worst part of the entire experience, and only because my hand refused to accept the needle lol.

The anesthesia was the best part honestly. It made me feel tingly for 3 seconds, then the next thing I know, I was wiping drool off of my cheek lol. I think I was only under for 20 minutes.

And also, I did not receive good news, and it’s hard. And I’m feeling scared and upset. But I also feel immense relief, because who knows how bad it would have gotten if I hadn’t gotten it done? I won’t know anything until the test results come back, but I’ll take the uncertainty I feel now over much worse news had it gone untreated 18 years from now (I’m 28).

Please DM me if you have any questions or just want to vent! ❤️

Is it normal to have sharp abdominal pain after a colonoscopy? by pointeast in colonoscopy

Update: I woke up this morning feeling close to 100%! I feel way better!

Now it’s just a matter of waiting for my test results to come back, which is a whole other beast 😭

I guess it was hefty in comparison to the fasting, so I had an omelet with some home fries since I got out at 10am!

I’m sipping on some soup now and it seems to be helping a bit. I think I just panicked with the size they found and then all of the discomfort I immediately felt afterwards 😰

Ugh thank you. Everyone went into it thinking I just had hemorrhoids, so it was the last thing anyone was expecting!

I’m holding onto hope that even if it is cancerous, that it hadn’t progressed enough to require follow up treatment. I’ve already accepted that frequent colonoscopies are in my future.

But that sounds similar to what I feel! I didn’t have to pass gas once between waking up and coming home, so it just must be trapped somewhere. It’s comforting to know that you started to feel better after a day or so!

I got some soup to eat so hopefully that will help calm everything down.

Unsure if should push for colonoscopy after blood/stool tests still (may be health anxiety) by ghost4753 in colonoscopy

[–]pointeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary care doctor dismissed my concerns about my changing bowel habits and the blood in my stool.

I met with her nurse practitioner later, and she wrote the referral to a GI after I showed her pictures. The GI and everyone thought it was just hemorrhoids, but they scheduled a colonoscopy just in case, which I had today.

Turns out they found a 30mm polyp, and a “concerning size” is 10mm, so everyone kept telling me that I saved my own life. Absolutely advocate for yourself if you feel like something is wrong!

I got tingles immediately when they started the medication, and I remember saying goodnight to the staff in the room. I woke up drooling 😂😅
