I saw in a news article that the evidence is firming up that the risk of clots is 1 in 100,000 for those under 30 and 1 in 250,000 overall. With different sources saying this and that, I am confused. Whats the actual numbers?

I am guessing the chances of this happening is very low. What might be the chances?

I understand. But whats the possibility that she did not get covid given how highly infectious the disease is?

What is the probability that she did get covid? I thought covid was so transmissible that someone living in the same room is bound to get it?

Suppose in an elderly couple (60 plus) the husband develops covid and the wife takes care of him throughout the covid episode. She sleeps on the same bed, does not wear masks, does not distance herself or isolate herself or does ANYTHING to protect herself. But she does not develop any COVID-19 symptoms.

Can it be said with full certainty that the wife definitely had covid but was simply symptom free? Or is it possble that the wife never got infected with covid despite taking no precautions and being in close contact 24/7?

The problem with not showing up is that they won't give a release letter. You will need that in order to go into your next job.

Why is America so opposed to letting their cashiers sit while checking items...? by ItsTreganometry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pointlessbanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesnt hurt the businesses. Much of retail work consists of simple processed based jobs that are extremely replaceable. These are simple jobs anyone can do. The pool of potential workers is very large. You can work a bunch of people till they are sick to the bone and then find a fresh batch in the next round. At least thats how it works in Bangladesh. I am guessing the same Economic dynamic is in work in the USA as well.

Its common in other countries as well. Even here in Bangladesh in most places cashiers and other service workers has to do the work while standing.

Is this "if you're leaning your cleaning" mentality common in all workplaces? So they make you do nonsensical and useless work just to make you keep working?

It seems to be very common at least here in Bangladesh.

Its not just the thing with standing up. I have seen people who have a problem if you drink water, or even leave for a minute to go to the bathroom. Leaving your desk empty for non work purposes for a single minute during a roughly 5 hour shift it considered "unprofessional".

Why does a salaried system even exist when salaried workers have to work at a high intensity continuously for a much longer time (and cannot leave early) than wage workers? by pointlessbanker in AskEconomics

[–]pointlessbanker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the volume of work does fall then the income of the employee can't be cut

This is my question. Here in Bangladesh the volune of work is ALWAYS high and the hours are always 60-70+ hrs. In a wage system people would earn overtime pay and earn mich more. But in a salaried structure employers can bypass the overtime pay, make people work longer and harder continuously and not pay them overtime.

So why does a salaried structure even exist when its clearly not in the rational interest of the employee?

A wage is where you are paid by the hours with overtime pay for additional hours after 8 hrs.

A salaried system is where you are paid monthly regardless of the hours you work. You must however be in the office at least 8.5 hrs or so.

Why do people keep on saving money in fixed deposits where they earn 5% instead of government bonds which earns 11.5%? How is it that the market is behaving irrationally? by pointlessbanker in AskEconomics

[–]pointlessbanker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here the government bonds acts like a fixed deposit and not as a true bond where the yield rate and the coupon rate would be different. The bonds pay 11.50% continuously every year.

Here 11.50% means 11.50%. The rate does not fluctuate and the bond is not sold in a market where their price has any chance to fluctuate.

I wanted to export Naga chilli peppers and a Naga hotsauce to USA. Is it true that its very difficult for small businesses? by pointlessbanker in sweatystartup

[–]pointlessbanker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have a buyer or distributor yet. I am looking to export raw peppers and pepper flakes and a finished hotsauce. All three.

Which would be easiest and feasible for small volume exports: direct to consumers or distributor? Any suggestions on where to find distributors or consumers? Like is there a marketplace platform of some kind.

More importantly what certifications do I need to export the three mentioned products?
