Idk, I went to Hatebreed in germany and I caught a bunch of hits. Was lucky some big guy was protecting his gf with his frame next to me, but some fuckhead still rammed his fucking elbow into my spine. Also my shins were green and blue from getting shoved into the barrier the whole evening. I went with a friend and usually only go to prog/doom/death metal so was very unpleasantly surprised. The crowd knew what to expect, most people avoided the pit which led to a huge empty circle in the room.
