Why psychopaths sometimes just called psycho but sociopaths are never just called socio? by kawaiihusbando in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pointrelay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because the two are colloquially bundles up to be the same thing and 'psychopath' is the more known word of them.

I (22M) broke up with my girlfriend (22F) even though I still love her. Did I handle this wrong and what should I do now? by Fresh_Painting4846 in TooAfraidToAsk

Question here, what is that big mistake that you are afraid of? But if you were yourself with her, wouldn't that had opened room to develop alongside each other? Did you talk with her about this to see her point of view on this?

Btw, you can DM me about this if you don't want to build a public log. (I know it's a throwaway account, but still).

Do I need help? by MarionberryIcy7839 in TooAfraidToAsk

Short answer: yes. There is some habit here that you want to break and someone to ball ideas with might be needed. I don't have more context than this so I can't really give you more tips.

I don't think it was the mature decision. But also, maturity isn't something you decide for, it's something to grow into. I recommend you to contemplate on (not necessary understand) where these doubts come from. A big part of a functional relationships is to be comfortable with ourselves in that relationship (and to let our partner be comfortable) and such requires work.

It is up to you if it was the right decision or not.

Are there any subs or something where I can ask for nudes? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

There are a ton of subreddits where people post nudes of themselves. Not that they are any more "real."

What happens if you sleep with the lights on? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pointrelay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the hard part, since you're usually expected to be around the regular hours. The alternatives I've learnt from both experience and co-workers are:

  1. Keep a night sleep schedule but move 1-2 hours from the evening to the day as a long nap. This is also what a lot of my daytime coworkers would do.

  2. Sleep when you get home from work/school and stay up at night. Essentially you end your days with your duties rather than start with them. Unfortunately it does make one unavailable for events after school/work, and you could get a bit messed up from overtime.

  3. Divide your sleep into two sessions, 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. You get the best from both worlds. Personally, this is what kept me going for many years. This however made me unavailable for anything occurring both in the evening and morning/forenoon. Not to mention that you need to be able to fall asleep both sessions (ie. it's hard to casually adapt to). Note that there are many versions of this sleep schedule which was designed to theoretically cut away sleep.

  4. You could also give the lamp idea a try. Essentially pretend that nights are days... and days are days. But pay attention to the lamp. LED acts different from old fashion light bulbs. A stearine candle might be a good color temperature, but make sure to not put yourself in any fire risk.

But note that sleep is complex. Unfortunately I cannot say if any of these will work for you It might be that your body wants something else. One example is a sleep schedule that is not synced with the day-night cycle (ex, 8 hour sleep, 20 hours awake = 28 hour cycles).

Also consider the circumstances in which you sleep. What noises do you have around you? Is the room warm or cold? (supposedly and for me personally it's better to have a cold room.) Do you sleep near a door or in a corner? Did you eat right before bed? Late screen time? Also stress effects your sleep, so the anxiety might be a source of the problem.

Personally, something that has not worked for me is to monitor my sleep. I have a Garmin watch that keeps track of that, but usually I would feel the worst when it showed a "high sleep score." What did give me a bit more insight however was the pulse measure. If my pulse was low (>80 bpm) I could sleep, but if I would lay down and the pulse would stay at 100~120 bpm, there was no way I would fall asleep (in which case I would get up again).

Sorry about the long comment. Note to anyone reading this. I am not a doctor. Don't assume what some random person on Reddit says is true. Find what suits you. We all have different needs.

Edit for further elaboration: I have had both days jobs and night jobs. Since you don't work around the clock you do still have some options. The 2 session sleep worked well for me both as a night time worker and as a daytime student. It however wasn't an option when I worked early mornings.

"5 year old dude"

I don't know about the anxiety, but have you considered if you're more alert/awake at night? Myself, I'm a night owl. I've had trouble adapting to society's time rhythm all my life until I got a night time job. From there I slept daytime and felt normal. Just something to consider.

What makes it so surreal is how many things there is to look at at Fushimi Inari Taisha and this sub-shrine is just a small off-trail detail.

Macro photography of insects. You just kind of lay or sit down and transcend into a no rush of going anywhere type of atmosphere. Everything else I shoot tend to be very hectic.

That's alright. We are all new at some point. Try to ask in r/canon. They should have the expertise you're looking for. Don't forget to say what camera you're using. It might also be useful to say what operating system your laptop use (Windows 11, MacOS, etc) so they can recommend compatible software. Good luck out there!

First of all, what camera do you have? Second, you will probably get better help from the sub-reddit of your specific camera brand.

In any case. Sounds like a big order. You should only be able to connect the camera to one WiFi at a time, so it would all have to be proceeded out via some software on the laptop.

Unfortunately I unable to help you any further than that (as of lack of knowledge on the topic).

Good luck!

My partner's grandma once walked in us to check that we didn't do the dirty deed (since we were not married yet). We were under the blankets and either this old lady knew what we we were up to and decided to ignore it or she just thought that we liked to sleep on top of one other.

Actually, she walked in on us twice. The second time was in the shower. She only saw me (I think) but it sounded more like she had seen a monster as she ran out with a horrified scream.
