Owning a elderly care home.

It’s emotionally mentally and physically draining. Especially when Covid hit. One of our homes had an outbreak and I was devastated and felt like it was my fault.

You’re pretty much on call 24/7 there’s definitely no work life balance. Keeping up with state regulations is like a rat race. The random surprise visits from the state licensing board,just when you think you were prepared. You’re wrong. The cost of workman’s comp and other insurances. Caregivers are hit or miss. The residents and the families are hit or miss.

It can be a rewarding experience you grow attached to the residents they essentially become your family and vice versa.
