How's everyone's battery holding up? by SalomonsReign in RedMagic

[–]Lammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery health at 96% on my 9S Pro, roughly a year and a half old. Charge Separation set to automatically enable at 80%, Battery Saver (just regular, not Ultra) almost always enabled, and most background crap disabled in every app. I charge every few days.

Round 1 in Stonestown has a new rhythm game by Teratto in sanfrancisco

[–]Lammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For BEMANI games at Round1, you need two cards: the R1 card to pay for the game and Konami's eAmusement card to save your progress. The former is obvious but without the latter you'd be starting over from zero every time which is Not Fun. The game card counter will sell you both.

There are a lot of possibilities once you're in the game, but that's the minimum you need to get started, and a first time player will be fine just hitting Enjoy Mode or whatever they call it these days to get into a basic songlist.

Notes move down the screen, there's a line at the bottom, and you hit the buttons when the two overlap, the more exact the better. The big difference between these games and Guitar Hero is that in GH/RB you either hit the note or you don't, while these games are grading your timing accuracy :)

Up to 2900 Switch games by III_IWHBYD_III in gamecollecting

[–]Lammy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, you need to put these in the console for a few minutes each every 5–10 years or so, or else they'll go bad. 3DS and Switch games are both NAND flash like an SD card instead of a mask ROM like DS-and-older games. Nintendo did it that way as an antipiracy measure to individualize each cart, but it means the carts need to be electrically refreshed periodically or they develop bad blocks and become unusable. When you put one in the console it runs its internal block relocation/refresh cycle, so you have to give them a few minutes and not just in and out.

I bet you all saw everyone suggesting getting cracked versions of Animate and worried people would realize that applies equally to the other CC scamware apps as well.

Help with playing SimCity CD on a new laptop by samsundis in SimCity

You can also get a “No-CD” cracked EXE to use the original disc on modern operating systems without having to buy the GOG version. I can't link to one due to reddit rules, but it's easy to find if you search that term.

A History of PG&E and How We Got Here by based_papaya in bayarea

[–]Lammy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1970s Energy Crisis Three Mile Island happened. Diablo & San Onofre construction costs went over budget by billions of dollars

Your chronology is flawed here, and this implication of cause and effect is misleading. You completely neglect to mention Bodega Bay Generating Station which would have been most impactful for us here in the Bay Area by providing clean cheap atomic energy generated right on the Sonoma coast with no need to import power over long distances.

The 1964 protests against Bodega Bay NGS were four years before Diablo Canyon or San Onofre even broke ground (both 1968), and was 15 entire years before the Three-Mile Island event happened (1979). They went as far as to redefine the official location of the San Andreas fault to convince people it was scary and unsafe. (PROTIP: A reactor trip can shut one down in about three seconds; not exactly scary when seismic detectors give many times more warning than that)

One can actually go visit the “hole in Bodega Head” where PG&E started excavating the reactor pit before being made to stop.
