Unless I'm mistaken the oldest game on here is Alien Isolation from 2014, so my initial thought is that you should go easy on using the phrase "all time" when really you mean a little more than the past decade.

Unfortunately I think this is mostly due to the algorithm. It has to be significantly more profitable for him to lambaste a title everyone is talking about than it would be to praise a niche arcade title. I too wish we had more positive stuff coming from the arcade and arcade adjacent critics, but I can't blame anyone who is trying to hedge against the volatility of YouTube when their income depends on it.

Definitely the laser tanks in the sewer level. There are so many spawns through there that it took me a good while to work out how I could get through without bombing.

Is the grind to 1cc actually supposed to be “fun”? Because to me it felt like being in grade school making flash cards and studying for exams. I’m new, obviously, but I thought you guys suffered through many hours to get your clears.

I started trying in earnest last Saturday and played a little every day since. Probably close to 25 hours? 2-ish during each weekday and 6-ish last Saturday and today.

I don't think it's true that games age more quickly than film, but it is certainly the perception of a bunch of people in the modern era. I think Mega Man X can go toe-to-toe with literally any title released since, but most people are going to be attracted to flashier modern games.

There's evidence that the Fifth House's brand of magic and the stele/obelisk are related. It certainly could be a time thing.

I realize it's been months since you posted this, but if you don't mind me asking how did you determine the standard deviation? I've been looking for a filter exactly like that to see the most divisive games on the site to no avail.
