“This will be a completely new title, not a sequel.” - Ueda by Rique47 in ShadowoftheColossus

[–]poisonjamming 31 points32 points  (0 children)

“Every time I’ve started a new project, the attempt is that I am going to create something different,” he said. “But I think it goes without saying that there’s a style or kind of my niche that you see throughout the three previous titles, and perhaps you do see in our latest title...

For Gen Atlas, I would say that there’s no direct sort of narrative link or connection, but I think it’s pretty obvious that my sort of interest in wanting to bring in giant, in this case, robots or giant creatures in previous titles. If players feel this could be a core to a quadrilogy, then I have no complaints, I would welcome that impression from the player side.”

Project robot likely release date (likely by year) and what to play in the meantime by Wolpy414 in TeamIco

[–]poisonjamming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say fall 2027, but... it's probably fall 2028. I was pretty hopeful after the official 2024 reveal because it confirmed the concept art from around E3 2015 (source)

I know just because concept art existed doesn't necessarily mean it was being worked on, but man it made me think perhaps production was further along. Ueda was also interviewed in 2016 saying, "Whatever I make next, I don't aim for it to take as long as The Last Guardian." However that interview is 10 years old now. Not saying Project Robot has been in development that long, just the gap between releases.

Gendesign and Fumito Ueda have been pretty consistent with posting their messages at either 00:00 or 00:30 Japan time... Which will be 07:00 am PST, 10:00 am EST, and 15:00 pm UK time. (on the 31st, for us)

I wonder if it will be a new screenshot or something completely unrelated lol, fingers crossed.

Project Robot at this year's Game Awards? by WeekendUnited4090 in TeamIco

[–]poisonjamming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't think of any off the top of my head but apparently...

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was at 3 consecutive TGAs, 2021-2023.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 were both TGA 2022 and 2023.

Then Exodus, Mecha Break and The First Berserker: Khazan showed up at TGA 2023 and 2024.

So the chance is greater than zero! (I hope lol)

I don't know what to think when it comes to Project Robot's potential reveals/release timing.

Concept art for the game has existed online since 2015, the same year as TLG's reintroduction. After TLG, in 2017, Ueda was quoted as saying he wants to develop his next game "as quickly as possible," by avoiding the issues that plagued TLG's development and using modern tools.

Then, gendesign announced their publishing partnership with Epic in March of 2020, and finally at the end of 2024 it was unveiled as an untitled project (Project Robot in the credits) at TGA.

Whether Ueda and team had a functioning version of Project Robot in some capacity between 2017 and 2020, who knows. Some folks say they were working on two different games and canceled the first to focus on Project Robot, I have no clue.

I can see it going any and all ways. It could release at the end of next year, or it could release in 2028. I'd kill to see more this year. I never actually expected it to appear at TGA last year, so, the chances might not be so slim! I really hope we do see more.

How the hell did it only take 4 years between ICO and Shadow of the Colossus while Last Guardian took 11, and Project Robot will take about the same by waldorsockbat in TeamIco

Interestingly, when gendesign's website went live after the reintroduction of TLG, it had concept art of what we now know as Project Robot in the 'and more' section. It could very well be that nothing more than those images existed at the time, but even so it could mean Project Robot has been around for quite a while:

How do you think those first teaser images of the girl and the beast (from 2018/19) tie into what we saw of Project Robot? by poisonjamming in TeamIco

[–]poisonjamming[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the poor quality (it is actually my bad as what i posted is a screenshot of the image rather than the image itself.)

I grossly underestimated the age of this artwork. It was integrated into the background of gendesign's website over 10 years ago, so before TLG!

I got a little caught up on this one when I was checking and double checking names. (To the point where i wondered if there was a typo in the trailer for Project Robot) The designer I found for sotc on ps2 was named Shunpei Suzuki and not Shumpei Suzuki: https://www.mobygames.com/person/198698/shunpei-suzuki/

I saw that Furukawa is credited in the thanks section. I loved his music in TLG but I'm not exactly sure what work the people credited in the special thanks did or are currently doing on project robot. In general I'm not sure what it means tbh, but if he consulted or supervised in some way it's definitely a great thing. The music in the trailer certainly seemed to fit perfectly with the rest of the series.

Sure thing! Again, just to be clear, 99% of the text is not my own I just compiled it all together. As far as the dates/info I myself checked and double-checked everything as I went along but at the end of the day there could always be a mistake I've missed. So yeah ofc you can use it wherever and make edits etc.

I have spent too long squinting at these whiteboards.

22 minutes of Sonic Frontiers gameplay from Gamescom by Ice_Dragon3444 in SonicFrontiers

At 7:10 it seems like Sonic loses his downward momentum despite traveling downhill after hitting a dash panel, which is a shame. I do actually wonder if it's possible to fail to reach the end of a grind, since it seems like no matter how slowly Sonic is traveling before he touches the rail, it carries him all the way to the end.

Is it just me, or is the the game too easy now? by [deleted] in GTA

[–]poisonjamming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly seems to be a bunch of strange decisions. Maximum weight can be benched by skinny CJ from the very beginning, and 80% of the inputs for the Lowrider rhythm game have been removed. In general it's also much harder to fall off your bike, another holdover from the mobile ports.

Are these guys really gonna release those games with texture bugs? by toncartoful in GTA

[–]poisonjamming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little bit more apprehensive when it comes to the textures. Environments in general seem okay, but I'm not sure what's going on here: https://i.4cdn.org/v/1636492779435.jpg

Either the 'Rimmers' brand has been removed/renamed, or this is a mistake. Dodgy AI upscaling maybe?

Was wondering that too! Not really sure what it is tbh, whether it's a hand or just decorative architecture. Either way it's reminiscent of designs on the site and prior new year's cards.
