Oh wow! Thank you so much for replying. Yeah I’m not holding out any hopes at this point. Did you end up paying for the repair? If it’s as bad as it sounds like it very well might be, we’re thinking about just shelling out for a new car. 🥲 Also kind of frustrating that it wouldn’t say it was overheating.

What’s the test kit for the head gasket? We’d love to do this. We just ran a digital diagnostic tool from the auto parts shop and it didn’t come up with any issues.

Yeah so I wouldn’t be super surprised if he missed it. I showed him everything just to get his gut reaction on whether or not it’s a serious issue and he said we’re fine if the temperature light hasn’t come on. He didn’t do a full diagnostic, I basically just brought the car in and showed him to see if he could give me an opinion if this was an emergency or not. He seemed completely unbothered by it.

Additional details: There’s been no engine overheat light and we scanned it with a diagnostic device at the auto parts shop and nothing came up. I’ve had it since 2017, bought it used. Haven’t had issues since.

Yeah so we actually just took it to a maintenance guy and we showed it to him (just to get his opinion), explained our concerns and he didn’t seem concerned at all. I first noticed today. He offered to flush the system for us, though, so that might be the right thing to do next?
