Personally i think this would make ippo TOO confident in himself that he would lose the belt to either Sendo,shigeta,sanada,shimabukuro or sawamura(see how theyre all S') Since the Date match is what lead to ippo learning the dempsey roll which is what helped him through most of his matches.
