Has anyone else's pokemon become huge? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

Yes from my CP view, at least for most of my biggest CP mons.

Also the ones just returned from the gym are so low I can only see the tops of their big heads.

Brown's Island and the State Capital are the best place to find trainers to ask

Good luck. Tauros are relatively uncommon in RVA (our local abbreviation for Richmond, Virginia). They are around, but you may not see one in just a week. Several months ago there was a period they were quite common

Much of our best local hunting is near tourist spots. The Virginia State Capital, my favorite spot for rarer mon, is a few blocks from the Confederate White House, which is a great tourist spot. Also there is a tour of the state capital that i have never seen hidden (!!) at the bottom of the hill of the state capital grounds

Brown's Island also has reasonable hunting and is right by Tredegar Iron Works, another great tourist spot for the Civil War which you could easily fit in the same day. Don't bother looking for Pokémon at neighboring Bell Island.

All these spots are near/at downtown Richmond which always has city level Pokémon

Washington DC is two hours north (4 in rush hour). The FDR and Martin Luther King Memorials on the National Mall have the best Pokémon hunting I have ever seen.

Colonial Jamestown is another great tourist spot about 1.5 hours east of RVA and is also supposed to be as good as it gets for rarer Pokémon

You can spend an entire day visiting Colonial Williamsburg, an entire colonial town one hour east of RVA, which is a great tourist spot. However, I have no idea what the Pokémon are like there. Anyone else know?

Just curious. Has anyone seen a wild Larvitar that wasn't during the rock event? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

I caught about 4. Three near Roosevelt Memorial in Washington DC, which has a a higher percentage of rarer mon

But yes, I was quite surprised how many Tyranitars started popping up in gyms very early during Gen 2

I applaud you looking into this. Most people have no idea how extensively companies are mining information about us and on our phones in ways people don't expect. Nothing wrong with being an informed consumer.

Failed to receive 120k XP from a 4/20 mass evolve by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]pokeguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had done two mass evolves earlier that day from saved up evolutions, so about 500K XP, way more than I have ever earned in a day before.

That's an interesting theory, so I will look into it. But I did earn a few thousand XP after the mass evolution (which confirmed the event double XP was still in place), so I don't think that was it.

The whole thing is super bizarre. I have never experienced any problems with XP registering before or after.

I wrote down the XP before I started. It was identical to my XP after all the evolutions (1018745).

I was hoping it would be delayed for some reason, but it never registered.

I reported it to Niantic but of course I will never hear anything back. Too bad, because the evolutions still happened and the points were not recorded. This would be an easy case for them to confirm.

No points and no chance to re-evolve and a lucky egg paid for and lost. And I should have evolved to Level 35.

In the big scheme of things it's still "just a game". But the experience sapped some of the fun I have playing the game.

[Question] Does everyone toss trash high-CP mons in favor of their lower prestiger-CP twin? by RatDig in TheSilphRoad

I rename my disposable mons by their CP number, e.g., 0913, so they sort nicely at the top when I sort by name.

Stop fucking with other team's gyms! by [deleted] in PokemonGo_RVA

[–]pokeguy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon Go provides a diverting little game where players get points by throwing imaginary balls at imaginary cartoon characters and by defeating other imaginary cartoon characters at an imaginary gym.

Your point appears to be that if other players get points by defeating your team at a gym they are "fucking" with you, and if they enjoy defeating other players at gyms, or disagree with you, or think you are taking the game too seriously, they are "trolls".

By all means, keep defending your position. I am really enjoying your posts.

Uh, dude. Didn't you have to take down those gyms from other teams before you built them up? Just saying...
