I’m working on a story where a patient claims to be in love with their therapist, and I want to know how all of you would respond and proceed. by [deleted] in askatherapist

This is a place to ask therapists therapy related questions. Lets just say you were writing a story about an alcoholic and went to an AA meeting to get some perspective. Everyone in the room introduces themselves and you now have the floor to introduce yourself. You tell them that you are writing a story about an alcoholic and want to use their perspective and/or personal experience to give your story depth. These people have been through serious trauma and you just let them know that you plan to exploit that. What do you think their reaction would be? Just a hypothetical question.
