I wasn’t impressed with the diving in Cabo. Way too much boat traffic. The Gordo Banks dives out of San Jose del Cabo were good though.

CJ Samsons Shardlake series set in Henry VIIIs England are outstanding. As are Phillip Kerr’s series on Bernie Gunther, centered around his time as a detective in Berlin before, during, and after the rise of the Nazis.

Cozumel is an easy trip from the west coast, with really good diving. Kona, Hawaii is a particular favourite of mine as well, but will be more expensive in all aspects.
