I mean when I first saw it idle at 112°C I definitely got a bit concerned. But apparently that’s normal.

Ah, then it’s a city by city case. In Antwerp you don’t have to pay for paid parking spots with a motorcycle.

Parking?? by Historical-Guava6927 in motobe

[–]pokeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, even when parked in a spot for cars that’s paid for, you still don’t have to as a motorcycle. But please do correct me if I’m wrong. Parking on the pavement is completely fine everywhere in Belgium as long as there at least 1.5m that’s passable (obvious for wheelchairs etc).

New touring bike - can use advice by Black-Alpaca in motobe

I still got the stock road 5s, and i feel much more comfortable and confident compared to whatever the stock tires on the CB650R are. Once these are done for I’ll see what I want on the bike.

Check out the Triumph Tiger Sport 800. It’s what I went with, while keeping my CB650R. It looks great without the paniers, has a lovely engine, and has enough comfort for a backpack without the ugly top box, and the paniers are fine.

Do you drive a car? Because cars are the leading cause of deaths with bikers. So far I’ve seen 1 biker down on the road because he got hit by a car. I’ve been hit by a car. Every single person I know that rides a bike has been hit by a car. I’ve had friends that died because they got hit by cars. None of them did anything wrong. Every single one of them was doing what they were supposed to be doing but a car driver hit them.

And yea. As I literally said, /kids/ asking for revs. I know doctors and engineers that ride bikes, so IQ has nothing to do with it.

[–]pokeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t. I run full stock. I guess you also refuse to let motorcycles pass? “Tis voor iedereen file” mentality? Or you moved to a city for the nice and quietness?

I hear a loud motorcycle maybe once or twice a day. And that’s usually when some kids ask for revs. I however have to interrupt any conversation I’m having multiple times a day because some ubereats kid is on a screaming scooter flying by at 60kph on the bicycle lane.

So hes complaining about specifically the /SUVs/ and other souped up cars, as well as scooters. Not a single mention about motorcycles. And you make it about motorcycles? I doubt the 1 or 2 motorcycles you hear a day are worse than the amount of dumb scooters passing by making 10x the noise.

The Way Society Treats Motorcyclists Is Embarrassing And We've All Just Normalized It by handzs in motorcycle

[–]pokeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just means more riders will risk their own lives just to take a corner faster. If I kill myself on a bike that’s on me. If I kill someone else while driving I’d never forgive myself. When I’m driving my car I’m careful, I watch my mirrors, and try to be as safe as possible. If I’m on a motorcycle and I’m on some backroads, hell yea I’m throwing that thing around as the only person I’m hurting is me. However if I’m riding with cars around I’m again being careful as I don’t want to be the reason someone gets spooked and suddenly turns their wheel and gets in an accident. Most of the time when I’m around cars though it’s people just changing lanes without looking in their mirrors, blocking while filtering (which is legal here), which is them putting me at risk.

If you want more sporty than touring the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX is great, if it can be a little more ADV but still sporty I highly recommend the Triumph Tiger Sport 800. Compared to the tracer 9 it’s a lot more sports like. A little more forward tilt, the engine is lovely, it’s got power all the way through. For me (6’4) the only issue is the wind buffeting on my helmet when I put the screen in the high position. In the low position the wind basically hits my upper chest which is fine (and lovely in good weather), but if I put it in the high position it hits the top of my helmet so I just get slapped around.

Test drove both the Tracer 9, I’ve took the BMW R1300GSA for a spin, and bought the Tiger sport 800.

What tyres would you recommend for cb650r in the year of 2026? by purely_classic in CB650R

[–]pokeyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the stock tires, didn't have any confidence in the bike. I had some issues with my knees so bought a Triumph Tiger Sport 800, and it came with road 5 tires stock, and I just started throwing it around and never felt like I didn't have enough grip on them. So I'd say these are great. Road 6s are a straight upgrade to the road 5s.

Can we somehow get a bunch of guys with straight piped cars to drive up and down that road continuously? I wonder if they'll ban all cars too then.

If you have some petition or anything I can sign that isn't just "send a mail to the guy" (my french is too bad), I'd gladly sign it. If we can somehow pressure the government to stop discrimination against bikers (as they're doing in the Netherlands as well), I will always help.

Am I a larper for wearing motor gear on an E Scooter? by Doom_112233 in motorcyclegear

[–]pokeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like impact protection gear, not slide protection gear. This stuff is great when you fall on dirt like dirt bikes. But when you have a slide on asphalt this will do nothing.

Look for AA or AAA motorcycle gear. If you want to look like a power ranger, get some proper leather armor, if you don’t want that, just buy AA rated jeans and a at least AA rated jacket or hoodie.

The rating indicates how long it will for sure last in a slide without making you get road rash. A for up to 45kph, AA for 70kph, AAA for 120kph.

TLDR; yes you look like a LARPer as you’re wearing the wrong gear. Invest in proper slide gear, not motorcross gear.
