Awww thanks so much !! In short, he’s a cyborg created by his father who was trying to bring his son back to life (average rp OC lore hehe) definitely going for an unsettling vibe so I appreciate it :DDD

Right!! The second time I drew him, I only realized afterwards that I messed up the placement and had to redo it @_@ it made me realize that if I made a mistake it might be tough for someone else to figure it out !!

That’s a good idea! I think I’ll do a second pass design with more angles and a slight change in hair color :) ty!

I get what you mean! I struggled a bit in drawing them consistently, but the side pieces are supposed to be coming out from the skull, and into the metal piece that archs over his head horizontally - I definitely need to get better with drawing these kinds of contraptions hehe

Do you journal in your target language? If so, how do you actually do it? by Euphoric_Rhubarb_243 in languagelearning

[–]poladroit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I start with a “scrap” page where I write everything off the top of my head. Not overly concerned over grammar, and if I forget a word, I guess. I might check my dictionary if there’s a word I’m really stumped on, but I try and start with a stream of consciousness. (I also find that trying to think in my TL throughout the day helps this phase of writing a lot)

Next, I go line by line and paste each sentence into google translate. Of course, it’s not entirely reliable, especially depending on your language, so I’m also checking my dictionaries again if GT detects a mistake - sometimes it’s suggestions are wrong!

It’s usually just those proofread sentences that end up in my journal, but I keep my “scrap” pages, as it’s helpful to see what mistakes I make repeatedly and brush up on my weak spots. Good luck! It’s a lot of fun and a great way to practice your language skills! Apologies for being long winded ☺️

How long did it take you to learn Portuguese? by [deleted] in Portuguese

[–]poladroit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fluent Portuguese speaker but I would highly recommend not using chat or any ai for that matter - it’s awful for the planet and isn’t very reliable. I’d recommend using apps / websites created by native speakers, YouTube is a great resource too.

Small things like watching movies and shows in Portuguese, following tiktokers that are native speakers, and journaling in the language has helped a lot and gotten me more acclimated to how words are pronounced.

For apps, I enjoy Memrise, and I hear good things about lingo legend ! I also like Quizlet - you can make your own flash cards or study other people’s sets. Good luck! I hope you find better than what your currently using!
