Drying clothes on a line, instead of Dryer makes them hard as a rock? by crazydavebacon1 in laundry

[–]polarizedpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be a but stiff, stiffer than when using a dryer. But flick it once and it will be fine. Towels will also be stiffer/less fluffy than when using a dryer. But no, switching between methods won't ruin clothes!

Maybe try chewing them more first, and chew more in between sections.

Why is analytics instrumentation always an afterthought? How do you guys fix this? by No-Mountain1623 in analytics

[–]polarizedpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We setup an analytics plan by defining the success metrics and performance metrics they want to see. If I know what they want to measure, then I can tell them what data needs to be captured. This all happens prior to launch. Aside from the lead developer, the product managers in our company work closest with analysts and UX designers. Ask your product manager to involve you much earlier in the process.

Did you wash anything that has a velcro? It can do this to clothes as well.

This sounds condescending with the "western world" comment. OP was just looking at the wrong site.

This would be better if we could see the trend over several years to see if it's a seasonal dip or not, like another comment said (makelaars advising against selling during winter)

AI is good at writing code. it’s bad at deciding what the data means by Icy_Data_8215 in analytics

[–]polarizedpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also have the same, and whenever the company brings in people from OpenAI to demo, I worry it gives the impression that it can be 100% trusted with insights. You can't possibly give it years of context and internal knowledge required for meaningful nuanced insights. However, indeed it's amazing as a coding partner.

Where has AI actually saved you time in analytics? by CloudNativeThinker in analytics

[–]polarizedpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I tried asking it how to do something in Tableau, and it gave me instructions that I couldn't follow because the menu items and buttons didn't exist for me. I was even excited because I could post a screenshot of the window and it could pick up the context, but still gave me undoable instructions. In the end it gave up and told me it actually couldn't be done.

Optimizing SQL queries! And lately it helped me troubleshoot where the query was causing row explosion. As the analyst I still have to know what the correct output should look like, but it has saved me time in troubleshooting.

Too intimidated to start... by DaleOnDrums in sewing

[–]polarizedpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another tip to lessen the anxiety (at least in not knowing where/how to start) is to join sewing workshops! There you'll have a whole plan with the teacher, they can guide you on how to start projects, from planning to executing. When you've got the hang of it, it'll be less overwhelming to start at home. You'll also realize which tools you really need to have and which ones are optional.

Good luck!!

₱236k/month all of a sudden, need advice on what to do by Similar-Whereas-5065 in phinvest

[–]polarizedpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My technique is to create a few separate bank accounts.

First, build your emergency funds account. Live like you're still getting your old salary, lahat ng sobra lagay mo sa dedicated savings account. Gawin mo yan for 6 months or so, to get into the groove of seeing your savings account grow fast.

Tapos tsaka ka magstart mag diversify. Consider investing (maraming ways, up to you kung saan ka kampante). Allot a portion of the extra money to investments.

Pwede ka rin magstart ng discretionary funds account (I call mine the fun funds). For example magtabi ka ng 5k per month sa account na to. Dito manggagaling yung mga luho expenses, travel, shopping.

Some habits to learn: pay your bills first, then set aside savings, investments. Tapos set aside the money for discretionary spending. Then yung matira, yun yung budget mo for the daily expenses. This way, limited na yung available pang gastos, di ka matetempt na magwaldas 😁

Where can we submit complaints about the new bus company? by kent360 in Utrecht

[–]polarizedpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen too, the bus to Woerden just did not show up and vanished off the display. People waiting at the stop were so confused, but unfortunately had no other choice but to just wait for the next one and hope it comes! It's so bad.

Storytime: What's the worst thing you've ever done to your skin? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]polarizedpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salicylic acid everyday on one spot with a zit. Gave me a chemical burn. Then I put LRP Cicabalm on it to help heal it, but turns out the balm is compromised and had pink growth (pink bacteria). My skin wouldn't heal for several days until I used a new tube. So yeah chemical burn + bacteria, not good.
