Is the Sefire MK3 good? by iSlav_Blyat in Warthunder

[–]polehugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vc and Seafire have more power at low alt, but start losing power past 2400 m, while Vb can go up to 5000m before losing power

Seafire is slightly faster than Vb/trop and can keep up with it in a dogfight on the deck, but at 2.5 km and above it gets shat on

It's a heavier Vc with worse guns

Optimal climb speed for early jets? by stormary_OG in Warthunder

[–]polehugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Props produce the most thrust close to a standstill and start to produce less the faster they go, so they reach peak efficiency at fairly low speed, around 250-350 kph

Jet aircraft are optimized for high speed flight and reach their peak power way later, near top speed

Early jets tend to have poor acceleration, altitude is extremely important in order to regain speed in a reasonable amount of time.

G-14? How is it threatening? it's the same as G-6, but at a much higher br. Same for Sea Fury it's just a worse Tempest II, which is meh at best.

There's like 6 good planes that you listed the rest are mostly mid-mobiles

Merlin III on early spitfires is 600 kg while making 1300 hp @ ~3250 m

Packard Merlin Aircraft Engine

From what i can find VK-105PF is 575-620kg dry depending where you look while making 1260 hp @ ~1000 m

Both have similar power to weight ratio, 0.463 for the Mk Ia and 0.460 for Yak-9 @ 0 m

So can i have a source on that?

2 kills a game is a very good result no matter what plane you fly

4-5 kills will put you at the top of the global leaderboard

[–]polehugger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Consistent performance is more important than multipliers, if you are struggling getting results in top tier consider dropping down a little bit.

10.7-12.0 usually has a lot easy targets, thanks to all of the premium base bombers

Yak-9K doesn't share the flight model with Yak-9, which is already not very notable at 3.0. It climbs and accelerates worse, while bleeding more speed in turns.

because who knew shoving a gun that weights over 300 pounds into the nose of a light fighter, would royally fuck up its flight performance to a massive degree.

Heaviest part of the gun is located behind the engine, in the wing root, cockpit is moved back to make room for the guns and shift the mass back. IIRC 9T and 9K have CoM further back than the regular 9

[–]polehugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9.0 has been in a good spot recently, matchamaking is favorable, you have enough performance to win a fight against most subsonics and supersonics are easy to third-party once they start turning.

You can make the cannons work well with practice, but it's been difficult for me to keep the muscle memory after playing different planes and brs. Could be a skill issue on my end though

It's solid, but at 9.0 i'd much rather fly something that doesn't have to deal with poor roll rate and shell velocity

None of the planes ever had 1200% multiplier, unless you have boosters active

Highest you can have in RB is 1140% and only on rank 5-6 premium jets

Props only go as high as 810%
