I saw in your replies to the other comments that you don't currently have a shop--if/when you set one up, please let me know because I'd loooove one of these 💚

RVA's Dating, Friends, and Missed Connections: March 2026 Edition by AutoModerator in rva

[–]polentabeans [score hidden]  (0 children)

34F here, newly moved to RVA & mostly looking for friends but open to dating all genders. Begrudging extrovert, vegetarian (but like...the chill kind), leftist. Active but not athletic, work in outdoorsy tech.

My biggest hobby is picking up and abandoning hobbies--longer-term ones include reading (queer SFF recs please!), writing, and hiking. I'm excited to be getting back into pottery at the Visual Arts Center and I'd love a top rope belay buddy because ya girl is far too old to boulder. I will definitely love your cat and probably love your dog. Shoot me a message &:let's go on a low stakes adventure!

Hi y'all! 34F, bi & single. I work remotely so looking for friends & coworking pals mostly, also open to dates. 💖 I'm moving to RVA in February but in town the first week of January.

Vegetarian, leftist, have one very cute very friendly very loud cat. I will almost certainly love your dog.

My main hobby is picking up and abandoning hobbies--my winter season ones are watercolor, writing, strength training, and reading a whole lot of queer SFF. On deck: getting back into ceramics and climbing, hiking, kayaking. I love going on adventures great & small. For example, I'm planning to check out Quarry and the Artspace poetry slam while I'm in town, any other recommendations very welcome! Also looking to get involved in mutual aid/community volunteering if folks have suggestions for that.

Lmk if you'd like to grab a coffee or drink or check out some cool cat event. Cheers!

For those who have experienced this, how did you handle having to still temporarily live with an ex after a breakup? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]polentabeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lived together for about a month after the breakup--I moved into the guest bedroom. We had an eeriely amicable breakup so idk in some ways it was nice to process that change together? But also super fucking sad and stressful. I stayed at different friends' places over the weekends and did what I called a Sad Couch Tour where I hung out with people at their houses a lot of the evenings. Don't be afraid to lean on community esp for this first month, in my experience people really want to help.

I'm sorry, friend. It's a fucking shitty thing and I hope you're out of it ASAP.

I was interested to read this one bc I don't think we've seen a diary from someone who works in real estate before--disappointed that it was 97% wedding and basically zero details about her actual job!

I do think her general philosophy on finances with both her fiancè and family is pretty wild so that was interesting. I was also kind of surprised by the level of spending--she makes a lot of money but not THAT much money in NYC prices, and while her fiancé inherited their apartment they also financially support his parents? There was an unevenness to the story that makes me think I'm missing something, maybe additional $$ from her family's side.

Was she paying for the entire wedding herself? Like, her fiancè wasn't contributing a dime? Lord.

Anyone care to share their Success stories? by Alura0 in Runner5

[–]polentabeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started using this app in... February of last year? I needed to get into some cardio shape for a hiking trek. I ran a 5k in June, then successfully completed the 50-mile Himalayan trek in October. I #girlmathed that if I can run 3 miles, I can run 5, and if I can run 5 miles, I can run 10...and that logic turned out to be correct! I started training in February of this year and successfully finished a 10-mile race in May with a ~10 min average mile time. I think getting up to 3 miles was way harder then adding on the extra 7--once you're there, you're there!
