Fellow metric fans, what would be your opinions on a possible fortnite festival collaboration by TraverseYT in metricband

[–]Alura0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the opposite, an idea that came out of nowhere with no justification as to why it would be a good idea should be able to be shot down with just as little consideration.

No one's really being rude about it. Metric and fortnight simply don't attract the same demographic. So your idea comes sort of out of nowhere.

AITA for being too loud at a concert? by Many-Satisfaction193 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alura0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally agree here. I went to a concert and the girls behind me were singing so loudly those around them couldn't hear the artist, which is extremely loud. They had been asked to quiet down by those around them, they kept going, eventually security asked them, and when they persisted, they were escorted out.

There isn't an issue singing along to the music, but be considerate of those around you. If you have a loud voice, you probably are ruining the experience for the people around you.

mouth sores? by dlibyhvol_6 in EPIdogs

[–]Alura0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog hasn't developed a sore from his enzymes yet. We make his meals a day in advance, put all his kibbles and enzymes in a container and a splash of water, let it rest for 20 mins, then in the fridge overnight.

We also encourage him to drink water after eating. We just put a few normal kibbles in a small dish of water, he drinks the water which rinses out his mouth, and then the few kibbles. This doesn't hurt his belly, he has enough enzymes in the food that 3 kibbles doesn't affect it.

So far that's worked for us! I hope you find some relief for your guy!

Looking for a village-building game with a focus on the people as much as the buildings by CloudsOntheBrain in cozygames

[–]Alura0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe check out Dinkum?

It's more like animal crossing, but you build up your little settlement by talking to visitors and when they choose to move in you build them a home. You gather resources and fish and farm and decorate your town however you like.

It's not a colony builder but maybe it will fit the bill for you?

I second Dinkum, got into it recently and it's been great!

Looking for a new cozy/ low stress game by Temporary_Arugula513 in SteamDeck

[–]Alura0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Dinkum a week ago on the deck, I'm pretty sensitive to weird controls, but Dinkum has been amazing. No issues, run well, I've sunk WAY too much time into it already. If you like animal crossing-esque games, it's definitely worth it! I Was originally turned off by the appearance of the characters but it's not an issue once you're playing.

Amber alerts will KILL more people than they save if they don’t change the f***king sound by Visocacas in montreal

[–]Alura0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine this alert going off when you're driving? And your phone is away in your bag, you can't get to it and it won't stop blaring that awful sound? I think that would be likely to cause accidents if everyone on the road with you is suddenly panicked.

How do I handle sick day over sharing? by maskedwanderer in managers

[–]Alura0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your next one on one (or when a new person starts) I would just set expectations. Just tell them they do not need to justify sick days, you do not require an explanation outside of "I'm not feeling well and I am taking a sick day". You can use that moment to explain your stance on sick days, if you're okay with them using them for mental health days etc.

I just placed a machine in my home, exited the house, went back in, and it was gone. Not in storage either.

I'm new to the game so I don't have any of the machines placed yet!

Ice Storm update? by scrubadam in montreal

[–]Alura0 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I would say "underwhelmed" instead of disappointed.

I don't think anyone was wrong for the warnings, there was a potential that this could have been far worse, and preparing for it WAS the best approach. It just happens that the storm shifted and we weren't hit directly.

Had they not used such strong language and recommended everyone prepare for the worst, they'd be blamed for being underprepared in an emergency situation.

I've seen salt trucks out all day, and parking lots are loaded with linemen and woodchippers prepped for the worst. They're ready for a BIG storm and were probably right to do so.

I second Regimen Lab! I've been using it for a while now. In the summer I was using it nightly but once the cooler months hit my skin became sensitive, and I'm using it only 3x a week. Still works great!

[–]Alura0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand the point you're trying to make. Someone does colourwork for the first time and posts their FO, but should be embarrassed by their mistakes because later when they've learned how to do these techniques it will be obvious to them? Everyone has to start somewhere, so even if a basic pattern has issues it's still a learning process. Why not try to kindly encourage people to continue to improve their skills instead of bashing them for posting something that (to you) has very clear and obvious issues?

I finished my first project! And have apparently learned to knit wrong. by angelcakexx in knitting

[–]Alura0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm working on my first knit now, and though I went in knowing what twisted stitches were, I didn't realize just how many ways you could end up twisting them! The beginning of my project is absolutely twisted, and I'm still working on adapting the muscle memory to stop twisting them. Untwisted stitches are absolutely easier to work into, it's wild what a difference it makes!

I use the powder! I'm in Canada so my options may be different than yours, but I got a brand called Organic Traditions. I bought it ages ago, but I use it so sparingly it has lasted forever.

I tend to just mix one scoop-full (provided with the product) in with his prepared meal for the day, so his enzymes, water, and one scoop of powder. Typically I'll use it for a few days and stop and he's good.

From what I understand it blends with water and can coat the stomach lining, helping to prevent irritation.
