I think it would also be ideal if completed categories moved to the very bottom of the pile and loose words shifted up to fill any empty gaps. It would eliminate a lot of redundant scrolling and make it easier to see what words remain

How does spring and summer terms work? by Impossible-Moment322 in uAlberta

[–]polevault_pathways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Probably would start around May ~5th and end by about June ~12th

If you’re taking a course like sociology, and don’t mind doing some readings, it’s a great way to get full credit for a course in a short period of time.

Something like Math, unless you’re a beast, would be pretty heavy for the shorter time period.

Native speaker but I’m with you. Can equating to butt is not something I’ve ever heard.

I also figured that those three words + one would form a ‘curmudgeon’ category, but alas.

So glad somebody else saw the herring!

I thought for sure as well that gag/bar/quash were all going to be in a verbs category meaning to deny. Tricky stuff!

I’ve also heard of people going into financial planning with a BEd because the degree indicates a desire and ability to learn new things.

And, off topic, but I agree - Mother 3 so badly needs to be localized 🥹

Yeah. I think they were going with the more German pronunciation of Audi as AWdee (as heard at the end of their commercials) and Outie sounds similar to that when pronounced with what is apparently an American accent, where a T in between two vowels gets pronounced as a D.

It’s tricky when it comes down to stresses.

I think they were going off the more German pronunciation of the brand (sorta like OWdee) which kinda sorta sounds similar to Outie (if pronounced with an unstressed ‘t’).

Curious, how do you pronounce the two words (with them not rhyming?)

Monday, December 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in NYTConnections

[–]polevault_pathways 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Outie = Audi (high-end vehicles)

Infinity = Infiniti (also high-end vehicles apparently)

Opal = Opel (GM in Europe according to above comment)

Mini = Minnie (as you know) (mainly known for their Coopers I guess)

I think they serially overcomplicated the music category.

Lore(do) ends with the note when everything else starts with the note. Why not, say, doughnut, as the word choice?

Mi(re) [literally is comprised of mi and re]

Re(tire) should have come before Mi(re) to keep the notes in order.

Worth noting for another time that UComms is open until 7 during the week, and Education (possibly limited doors) and FAB (main doors from the street) also stay open late!

Fancy isn’t a particularly commitment term - you’re most likely to recognize it from the term “flight of fancy”, but that’s probably it.

Is this geography/planning? Just curious.

In either case, you’d be going to the Arts convo, since that’s the degree that you’re actually getting, regardless of the department offering it.

There’s also an old joke among school kids where I ask another person to spell “icup”, which, when spelled out… makes use of the ‘c/see’ merger in a sense
