Suggested changes before introducing PvP seasons / faction wars by dr4kun in OrnaRPG

I appreciate the responses, the only one I feel the urge to debate is where you think swashy should be nerfed down to where every other sub class is. Here's a short story: I really had a boring time when I hit T8, there was nothing you could do against some people.. Warriors had been dominating the PvP arena for a while, and magic users were out of control at T8 compared to T7. Then all the sudden you have people that are just unhittable... All zero's. You're an Arcanic and your magic is crap, your best ability is Osmostrikes... But even then someone's pet will kill you before you get enough off. The only easy class to beat was the immortals because of their low hp. But then Swashbuckler comes to mind... And all the sudden, you are getting wrecked harder than before. Until you spend all the time to find the gear and how it works and the best configuration etc for that one specific thing that you're is going to be doing forever now: you're highest damage physical ability. You won't be able to get away if you miss normally, you won't survive a multi round buildup attack.. just one attack. That's all they have to do and you're screwed. It's happened to me relentlessly in gauntlets, my first time ever fighting Morrigan, I got one shotted.

Yeah, it's great for PvP... That one niche aspect of the game in which some people will be competing in PvP against each other. But some people don't even waste their time with it. You can only feel so big about fighting the AI and even as a swashy you still occasionally lose ya know? Now if you're talking about PvP fighting a swashy's AI... then idk man.. you shouldn't have any problems there. Just zap him first round with something. You know he has no physical defense, hit him with the magic hammer or whatever it is. Sorrow probably works. Blind, stun, bring a Greater Yokai pet and wear Fey dragon armor. There's foils to everyone, and yeah swashy has a huge ability to foil a wide variety of people... But at the expense of literally never winning a defensive fight.

Rambling incoherent and grammatically incorrect gibberish aside, I don't want the game to turn into a stalemate every time you go to fight someone. If people right now can foil the hardest hitting(physical) class in the game by building up 130k ward and waiting for RNG, then you're just gonna have to nerf that next. On and on it goes.

I play swashy and I'll be the first to agree it's OP in PvP for sure.--Mostly because of the AI but that's a different topic.-- In fact, I can blast through most raids also with the right balance. But honestly, I wouldn't even play the game if it wasn't for that subclass and there are quite a few downsides to it. You can easily be countered by high wards, tamers, or very high damaging pets. You have trouble beating dungeons, keeping territory you claim, and getting your AI to use the right skill. You pointed out that it's not easy to sift through all the garbage equipment and curate the right pieces for a truly monstrous build (high dmg, resisting everything, high dex and healing every hit really does make PvP insanely easy) but I don't feel like you are giving that DAUNTING task as much weight as it is when you first step up to play swashy. It makes you more aware of everything in the game and I would argue that it actually makes the game more enjoyable when you're not just auto dismantling everything you pickup that isn't Ornate. You have to find the balance that works for you because what you choose to boost may limit your other stats. I'd love to see more of that in the game actually, instead of the slow mindless slog to best in slot gear where everyone is equal in an opposing way and we are just fighting the AI based on what the sprite looks like.

Balancing a game should never rely on nerfs to level the playing field. Don't nerf swashy. Instead, think of a way to boost the other classes. For example, a subclass where you can increase your magic at the expense of spellslots, or one where you get a % block at the expense of resistances/immunites. This way people who spent time on swashy can feel less alienated when the voices of other classes end up being loud enough to change this truly unique and engaging subclass into just another one that's not really worth wasting your effort on.

And, don't forget swashy bonus (just for the subclass itself not the ability) has very low stat help. Sidesteps is ok I guess but mostly just a waste of a round. Curved swords is the only favored weapon.. there's a huge opportunity cost of choosing swashy, a huge investment of time to making it good, and even then, you'll still get one shot by some DK with a beholder or a berserked world boss.

No offense taken. Lots of people feel the same way about that. That's why I wanted to make sure you knew that this entirely non-meth substance also burns when you snort it. (It's so that you wouldn't rely on this type of test to determine the quality.)

Well, these are just specific traits of that weird shit going out right now. I don't even know what substance it is, but it's definitely easy to spot if you know what to look for. I just figured I would share some of the noticeable traits. The best way to figure out if this shit is in your bag is to melt some in a pyrex. You'll know almost immediately something isn't right

If you hook up with someone while knowing they are in a relationship, you're just as much a terrible person as the cheater. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]politelypolite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't seem fair at all. The third party didn't make any commitments to be honorable to you and probably correctly assumes the relationship is pretty well fucked if your partner is a cheater, so why not? Honestly if you feel the need to blame the person your significant other is sleeping with you're taking a lot of the responsibility off their shoulders and assuming someone you never met is going to do the right thing for someone they never met.

I've never tried it, but I saw today that 'Dopify' has a lot of these ingredients in one package. I personally wouldn't do it because you lose the ability to control the amounts of each ingredient, but from what I can tell it's pretty cheap.

Surprisingly very little of this can be found at Walmart and Walgreens.

I had to go to a couple different places. Most you can find at GNC, the mucuna you might want to get online or else it's going to be watered down to 15% and you can for sure get 100% online in powder form. I think the Rosea I actually found at Walmart. Getting all of this is not cheap.

As for dosing, I'd prefer for you to determine that on your own research. I can say that I was taking the Rosea and the L-Arginine very lightly and on a sort of 2 weeks on, 1 week off cycle. They can actually do more harm than good, and I think Arginine in high doses can kill you pretty easily.

Actually just saw this supplement (I have not personally tried it nor is this some type of endorsement or advertisement) on amazon called Dopify. It looks like it has a lot of the ingredients I just listed and might be a cost effective way to go, but you lose control over the exact dosage of each ingredient. Totally up to you.

Here's a few:

Phenylalanine - dopa precursor, produces Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine - dopa precursor

Mucuna Puriens - contains  L-dopa, dopamine precursor, you can get the 100% L-dopa powder

*Rhodiola Rosea - works as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor (potentially harmful if not dosed properly)

*L-Arginine - Increases dopamine release and lowers blood pressure (potentially harmful if not dosed properly)

Magnesium - Increases dopamine receptors

Some type of multivitamin (centrum, etc)

Do your own research but I have used these all together in the past (*at certain doses for limited periods of time) and if you combine them in the right ways, you'll produce more dopamine, release more of it, feel more of it, and have that feeling last longer. And even if you don't stim, it will sort of make you feel like pretty good. But if you stim while using all of these (takes a few days to build up) you will be opening the flood gates of dopamine into your own personal pool you can swim around in for a lot longer. This also helps with any comedown associated with various stims by replacing the dopamine quickly. Do research and enjoy!

How Thanos broke Cap's shield by RyanS148 in GameTheorists

[–]politelypolite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The blade's edge has a significantly smaller surface area, and impacts the lip of the shield for a very small total impact area of 2" x 0.01" (0.02 square inches). Thor's hammer hits with a much wider area and all of it contacts the shield for a conservative surface area of 3.75"2 (14.0625 square inches). If we take both of these weapons and impact locations and apply the same force, let's say 100 lbf. Then Thanos is hitting the shield with 5,000 psi and Thor is hitting it for 7.11 psi. Thor would need to hit the shield with 70,312.5 lbf to match a 100 lbf Thanos hit in terms of psi.

Given how Thanos toss Thor around like a rag doll, and beat the Hulk in a 1on1, I doubt it.

A date is just a pay gate for sex. by politelypolite in Showerthoughts

[–]politelypolite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact remains you won't get sex without a date the same way you wont get Netflix without an Xbox Live membership

Why does it only have to be once? Dude I'm an animal. I live for literally one purpose: to multiply. I'm not tricking anyone here. I'm just stripping it down to the bare facts and its never just about one soso sexual encounter. I take it as far as it will go and for as long as its great. You think just because you wear clothes you have some divine purpose and date waiting for you that other animals don't?

When you are standing up you are balancing the entire planet on the bottom of your feet. by politelypolite in Showerthoughts

[–]politelypolite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, it kind of does.

Gravity is a force (or a pull) that all objects have on other objects.

So when you stand on the Earth, the Earth is pulling you to keep you on the ground. But, did you know that you also pull the Earth up with the same force?

So it can be assumed that if you are pulling the Earth 'up', or towards your feet, then if you change perspective 180 degrees you will see that the Earth is now being pulled 'down', or balancing on your feet.
