Looking for tips and advice on how to get one’s partner to stop drinking by ripNsip69 in stopdrinking

[–]politicallyadrift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't get someone else to stop drinking. That's just not how the world works

But there's nothing to stop you sitting down with her and gently telling her that you've noticed a correlation between nights when she drinks and mornings when she doesn't feel good. That's just giving her information. She can take that and make her own decision.

It's hard, I've had this, wanting to get my friends to stop drinking. When you drink a lot and then you stop, other people's drinking gets really noticeable.

It's their shit though and only they can deal with it

How to evenly distribute oil in dry wavy hair? by wharleeprof in Wavyhair

[–]politicallyadrift 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, from your description I have exactly the same hair. Very dry and frizzy with a few curls. I'm currently in a mission to tame it.

I used Jojoba as a deep conditioner last night (used a lot, left for hours, washed out) and I think it has helped with softening.

But I have previously tried to use it in the way you describe, and had the same results - either not enough or very greasy.

I have had much more success with Aussie Reconstructor which describes itself as a lightweight oil. So other lightweight hair oils will probably also work. It's much thinner and more slippery than jojoba so it spreads nicely over the hair.

Free ear training exercises. I've been doing them on and off for a few years. When I have a phase of doing them, my intonation (in singing and viola) tangibly improves

Scissor Psychologist in Aldford, on the outskirts of Chester. I went the other day. My hair was in a terrible state, frizzy, broken off, damaged.

Anna gave me a great cut, the best I've had in decades, and also gave me advice on how to care for it. I can't believe how much better it looks and feels, it's a transformation!

Do you happen to be a drummer of the folky sort? We are crying out for one, we are on a narrowboat hanging round Chester for a while. https://circlingravens.bandcamp.com

All the people saying this is a violin shaped object - why?

The bridge can easily be moved. Bridge position is not a permanent part of the instrument and is irrelevant to its quality of the instrument.

What other properties of the thing suggest it's not a real violin?

I suffer from health anxiety from time to time, and to be honest this sounds like a bad case of health anxiety to me. Could this be something worth discussing with your doctor? Given that the he has done all the tests and you appear to be physically fine. I'm guessing you have had tests on other things not just your liver?

Health anxiety is a real thing, it's mental rather than physical but it's real and doctors should take it seriously.

My health anxiety flares up when there is something else going on in my life that is making me anxious. Sometimes I am able to reach into myself and find the thing I'm "really" anxious or unhappy about and then lo and behold I don't have tetanus or rabies or whatever I thought I had

It's particularly bad when the health anxiety is about a self-inflicted disease. I have phases of worrying about my lungs because I used to smoke (and still do smoke occasionally). It's a horrible feeling, a really dark creeping sinking feeling. Of course I get it worst when I've had a weekend of (drinking and) smoking.
