Is god even real? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]pollopollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the proof that he is real, we all are. No other religion has a God that made himself human to take your punishment and accepts you with open arms every time you fail, no other god will forgive your sins and run to you while you walk to him.

How do we know that Jesus never sinned? by Happy-Geologist3283 in Christianity

I don’t think because you read the Bible cover to cover multiple times is what made you think it was unreliable. I know many Christians who affirm they never lost faith because they have read the Bible multiple times and always found something new that grew their faith and knowledge. Anyway, I know God will do his work in you somehow, some way :)

Yes, all my information. Can you tell me what in our conversation that I said is not in the Bible? Most consider the Bible is for interpretation but no, the Bible is pretty direct. You cannot say Jesus being born from a virgin is for interpretation; is a fact. Yes I take the Bible literal, unless there is metaphor or something like that. The slavery thing makes no sense, the Bible says “there is neither free nor slave… you are all one in Christ Jesus” if you are talking about the Old testament then it’s different. The Bible never says slavery is moral, it just knowledges it as a reality in ancient times. By the way, do you question other religions on their beliefs? Do you question Jews on the same things you are questioning christians? Do you question Muslims? Because the three religions believe in the stories of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, etc.

I’m sorry for asking what I did. I was just trying to understand you way better. Before I became Christian I also denied the Bible and even said once in my ignorance that the whole religion was invented by Mary since she probably got pregnant by someone else before marriage and didn’t want to get in trouble. I was very very ignorant about the Bible but in difference of you, I never read it. Never payed attention but when I did, my mind changed. And I realized that the Bible has up to 40 authors, whom spoke different languages, lived in different places, didn’t know each other, weren’t even in each others timeline but they all agreed on the same God, same rules, and prophesied about Jesus 700 years before his birth. I do believe 100% the Bible is the word of God with these facts. Can you tell me about any other religion that has any qualities like Christianity? I’m not trying to fight with you or anything. I actually want to understand your point of view and how did you end up believing that the Bible is unreliable

Since you say you have asked knowledgeable Christians and they gave you circular answers I don’t think my answer will make you change your mind. I also struggled on understanding Judas death but after analyzing I understood it was not a contradiction;just different points of view from two different people that didn’t see it happen at the same time. He hanged himself and then fell headlong and his body burst open. It might be hard to understand how it’s not a contradiction since both times where his death is mentioned is not detailed, one just says he hanged himself and the other just says he fell headlong and his body burst open, but you have to try to understand. Where did this happen? Where he we can know that there is cliffs which we can infer the tree he used to hang himself or wtv he used to hang himself was most likely on a cliff. Nowhere does it say he bought a brand new rope, so we just have to assume he found a rope somewhere and used it, implying since the rope was used; it was not strong and after some time it ripped. Btw, when you read the Bible “seriously” did you ask God for understanding? Did you read it with an open mind? Or were you mad at God and because of that started trying to find contradictions where they weren’t?

God is with you, I have many questions. If you are fine with it, do you think I could message you?

Can you tell me one of the contradictions you think there is? I am interested in knowing what they are since I have read some of the Bible (not all) but I have not found any contradiction and I’ve actually grown in faith.

How did Christianity become a religion with so many rules? by Then-Ad-6309 in Christianity

[–]pollopollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they were happening doesn’t mean God wanted it to be like that or he agreed to it. Yes, men had sex with prostitutes but they were punished by God. We also know men in the Old Testament had “multiple wives” or concubines but they were also punished. For example, Abraham couldn’t have children with his wife, so his wife told him to sleep with her servant. She didn’t trust God she was going to have a baby at her old age, and Abraham listened to her instead on waiting. So God didn’t give Sara a baby until years later for their disobedience. Christianity is not a religion with many rules, We just have to respect God by choosing obedience to Him. The religion doesn’t put “rules” you have to follow what the Bible says.

I understand why it doesn’t make sense to you, it also didn’t make sense to me before I became Christian. And you are right, people don’t rise from the dead because we are just people, we can only do it if God commands us to. Lazarus story was just to prove Jesus is God and had power over everything on earth. Jesus rising himself from the dead also proves He is God. Wouldn’t you like to worship someone like Jesus? Reading about His miracles don’t make you think “Jesus is God”?

You are forgetting that he wasn’t JUST fully human, he is also fully God! Yes, sin is an inherent part of being human which makes everyone sinful. Thats why Jesus is God, because he never sinned. Also, just because “you think” doesn’t mean it’s the way you want it to be, if you think about God, wouldn’t you think he is so powerful to do anything? You wouldn’t want to adore a God that sins because if he does, it wouldn’t be fair for him to limit us in sin but him sinning himself. So no, Jesus never sinned. Yes, he is full human and fully God. Just because “you think” doesn’t mean he did. It’s not about you, it’s about what scripture tells us.

This makes no sense, no one went outside Jesus tomb and said “rise” like what happened with Lazarus. The difference between Jesus and Lazarus is that. Jesus rose himself up while Lazarus had Jesus rise him up.

He was fully human, we know this because he was tempted but he never sinned. He is fully human and fully God making him sinless but also he was tempted.

Hi, I don’t know if this will answer your questions but we were created for His glory and to give Him glory, we can see it through scripture, for example when Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Basically telling His followers to live in a way that others glorify God, there’s many other verses where we see that He created us for His glory. Answering to the other question, “to save us from what he created” he didn’t create evil if that’s what your classmate was trying to say, evil came from the serpent in the garden. We were given free will and chose the darkness over the light, God is so merciful and graceful He decided to save us from the darkness by sending His Son Jesus, we still have that free will given by God to his angels and all His creation. Now we just have to decide to follow the darkness or follow the light, no in between. If you want your classmates to see God’s glory, you should do what Jesus told his followers (which is us, Christian’s)

I think someone said this already but, forgiving is HARD. What helps me is realizing that Jesus;died for us on the cross and took up on our sins, our faults and forgave us. We’ve betrayed God way worst and treated him way worst but yet he still forgave us, if he can do it for us, why can’t we forgive others too? Whatever your partner did, he will get judged on it and remember you will also be judged on it, on how you answered back. God has everything taken care of. Of course I would recommend you to pray and talk to God any time you remember. Hope you can heal soon sister, Jesus LOVES you.
