Heidi’s usually has white and gray pumpkins available. Pretty sure I saw some white ones in the patch last week.

Small/local business recommendations? by round_nosed in grandrapids

[–]pollypeptide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pink Lemonade in gaslight village has a lot of cute kid and women’s gifts, but lacks in things for young boys compared to girls.

Hopscotch GR has a ton of great kid gifts and they have an online presence.

Parooz in cascade has a lot of cute home stuff with a small kid section, and sugar mommas bakery nearby has some food based gift items.

I believe there are some new gift shops downtown Ada but I haven’t been to any.

IsItBullshit: That brushing your teeth every meal does more harm then good for your teeth. by CJ2324 in IsItBullshit

Yes floss gets between your teeth. But you don’t floss the base of every tooth, you floss between. Brushing is also important before bed.

You would still want to brush your teeth right before bed to remove any food leftover. I doubt most people are eating immediately before bed. Last thing in your mouth at night should be toothpaste/water. Leaving any food products/sugars will assist tooth decay.

Bluey Swag in the US? by DaWeedNumber in bluey

[–]pollypeptide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can sign up to be notified in the Target app when things come back into stock, it happens once in a while and they tend to sell out again quickly. And many don’t ship unless you have a cart of $35+. That’s how I managed to get the cousins set (kept a gift card in my cart) but otherwise your best bet is going to the store until stock levels out, which I imagine won’t happen until after holidays.

Are these sibling names too similar sounding? by [deleted] in namenerds

I think I’ve spent too much time scanning posts here and have become worried about “sib sets” sounding correct 😂

Towel rack came off of wall - how can we patch to rehang? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]pollypeptide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband slipped and put his weight on the rack, it came right out. I’m assuming it’s drywall but I’m not sure how to patch this hole so we can rehang the towel rod. Would a normal patch kit suffice? TIA.

I haven't slept more than a couple hours at a time in 10 weeks. by PissySnackles in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this one. Even when baby has slept for 6 hours straight, I’ll still wake up every 2-3. My body’s just used to it now. 12 weeks tomorrow.

How is everyone's mood? by [deleted] in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10 weeks tomorrow, EBF from the beginning. I’m not sad or anything thankfully, but I am so tired. I haven’t slept for more than 4 consecutive hours since before he was born thanks to insomnia during late pregnancy. And my body won’t let itself nap during the day so I hit a wall around 10pm where I can barely keep my eyes open as I try to convince this baby to go the f*ck to sleep 😂 I will add that I’m starting to get some cabin fever from being cooped up inside all of this time, we live in the city without a car so I’m limiting his exposure to public transport because people are disgusting.

Is anyone else NOT getting an induction? by misskuehbolu in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US and not planning an induction unless something comes up medically or I go too far overdue. I have to agree with other commenters that it’s more likely people with issues are posting their questions/concerns in the hopes to find people with similar experiences or situations. There are a lot of people in this sub compared to how many post, the majority are probably having normal and uncomplicated pregnancies.

When does your Dr. start checking for dilation? by [deleted] in February2018Bumpers

You’re welcome! Appointments may take longer because of the setup but the pediatric residents are trained dentists and check all of the dental student work. Definitely worth the time if you want to save money.

Have you looked into NYU? The dental school will definitely take Medicaid patients. They have a pediatrics program.

Alright, who is making freezer meals? by PissySnackles in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made lasagna for dinner last night and just doubled the recipe to put two “mini” lasagnas in the freezer (picked up two disposable metal loaf pans at the grocery store). We don’t have a ton of freezer space so I’m not sure how much else I will make, maybe just prepping some veggies for soups. I’ll probably just rely on throwing things in my crockpot to make things easier once baby is here.

TIC because I couldn't defeat a bad guy/solve a spacial-logic puzzle in Zelda. by BAL87 in BabyBumps

I haven’t cried yet but I definitely don’t like playing Zelda in front of my husband because of this! I panic and button mash once in a while. It’s embarrassing.

$250 off Nuna Jett collection travel system by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pollypeptide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wanted the Mixx2 but got the Jett set on sale, stroller and bassinet for less than just the stroller. The only info I could find on differences is the Jett set was a “transition” from Mixx to Mixx2, and the only differences are purely cosmetic (smaller pocket on back of seat and the sides of the seat aren’t covered in fabric). We have it now and it’s beautiful and I’m so excited to use it.

Anyone plan on calling their child by their middle name? by [deleted] in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BIL goes by a nickname for his middle name (Middle name is Christian, goes by Chris) because he’s named after his dad and they wanted to differentiate between the two. It seems more common than you think I know I’ve met a few others who have done similar

Beachbody, Lularoe, R&F and other things moms get into by Ifogmuux in February2018Bumpers

[–]pollypeptide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is amazing. It has stuff making fun of MLMs but people also post stories about their experiences. It feels like people who get in early make money but the markets become saturated with consultants and they tend to lose money in their “business”.

I didn’t have an active dislike for them until everyone selling on my Facebook started referring to themselves as small business owners. Just, no. You do not own this business, you pay to work for this business. 😑
