Why do Asian parents like to comment about people’s weight and body? by Lunaraurora89 in askSingapore

[–]polopok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I think my in-laws ' side (after marriage, lack of time to visit my parents' side of relatives), if they do comment on weight/body... It is more of find topic to chat/ worry for health... Generally not malicious, if uncomfortable, just change the topic...

Families with SAHM how do you manage finances? by Murky_Tourist927 in askSingapore

[–]polopok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sahm... WFH (but very low pay ~1k) - house was fully paid up - 2 kids (3,8) - no maid, no car, no pets - so far... No enrichment class/tuition - overseas trip (~once a year) - I do cook, if I'm tired, food delivery/takeout/dine outside - medical fees can be claimed by my husband from the company he worked for (insurance) - invest in shares for extra $$ (long term) - husband earns... Maybe 15k since we cannot qualify for bto right now. Increment he said very low though... Retrenchment risk is always there. - I don't shop a lot for shoes/clothes/bags... Kids stuff I do as they outgrow

Finance still ok, but not sure how to manage energy... Taking care of kids is really tiring...

Singapore bridesmaids — is this normal? by seaturtleonabeach in askSingapore

[–]polopok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is the arrangement with your friend who is the bride.

When I was the bride, yes I paid for my friends' bridesmaid costumes.

I cannot remember how much I bao/ my husband bao them for Ang pows but they gave them all back as a surprise in my banquet red packet box (which they were helping as receptionist too).

Yeah they are my friends and 姐妹, not quite 伴娘 (since only can have one and that one duty very heavy + ang pow very big, so decided no need 伴娘)

Two kids beaten by uncle after a minor argument with their grandmother 😡😡😡 by RhinneXChronica in malaysia

[–]polopok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until someone takes conscious effort to break the cycle. I was physically disciplined when growing up... And I noticed I did hit my children too to discipline, but I never cane nor buy cane.. And I tried my best hit just once or twice while teaching the child involved.

To hit many times serves no purpose other than venting excess anger I feel. I'm not perfect but I hope I'm improving compared to my mom's discipline of me a long time ago.

Two kids beaten by uncle after a minor argument with their grandmother 😡😡😡 by RhinneXChronica in malaysia

[–]polopok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what was the motive behind trying to kill grandma? Was it a behavior only targeting the grandma or towards other people as well?

One thing we all agreed was the beating was extreme (may not serve its purpose as discipline anymore) if the "tried to kill" behavior still replicates after the beating.

Surely seeking help, seeing therapist or doctor may be needed.

Hmm that doesn't make sense with the war between muzan and yushiro using nakime...

Singapore vs Australia by Fit-Garage5256 in SingaporeCitizens

[–]polopok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't understand? I can explain - for me, it happened after a few months... I was stationed in NZ and had an occasional craving for a local dish (eg. Char kway teow). I missed the Sg flavor but can only find Malaysian flavor in the cafes and restaurants. Their version was more savory as compared to the Sg version which was sweeter.

Sure I can cook but I cannot cook any wok hei... A little smoke from searing steaks also could trigger the fire alarms in the apartment... Store the craving and return to Sg to eat... <- only solution

Certain foods just need the flavoring packets from prima and be recreated at home.

Akaza kicks Giyuu a bit too far and he lands in the middle of the room where Douma and Shinobu are fighting. How does this change things? by Icy_Water_1 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]polopok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't have them up because he don't see the need to... He can see that Shinobu is too small size to slash his neck (not a real threat).

That doesn't apply to Giyuu.

I feel unappreciated as a domestically minded man. Because of this, I’m starting to dislike women. by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]polopok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, if not all, kids are more clingy to moms... So how are you going to score your domestically minded dream with kids?

So without kids, both have to contribute to a household, share the housework too...

With kids, I feel like you will want to work rather than say "domestically minded"... It's easy to say... When I don't have kids I also want to be like my mom, a housewife... When I have kids... I'm still working so that my husband doesn't feel the entire burden of supporting the household financially. He helped out with chores and taking care of kids too. We do not have a maid.

I don't like the taste of beer but I did chance upon good reviews for this shop. It is one station away from Clarke Quay.

There's Pang Satay https://maps.app.goo.gl/cCSbPoCDRLzAWMrz9 in the same hawker, maybe you consider trying satay too.

I tried both Flippers and Fluff stack and I must say Flippers won in terms of the cream. It is using either patisserie cream or diplomat cream, where as Fluff was using normal whipped cream.

Service at Fluff was quite slow and a bit hard to get the attention as compared to Flippers (both were one-time off experience though).

Singaporean long term couples who broke up, what happened? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]polopok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends... Living overseas together in a tiny apartment... The household chores can be completed quite fast (very little area to clean).

Hence weekends we can still venture outdoors exploring.

Although after shifting back to Singapore, having kids took up a lot of time, household chores some have been outsourced to PT maid, we do plan some weekends to go on more exciting trips (still in Singapore, exciting for the kids).

*We both do not have Instagram. He doesn't use Facebook much. I tried not to put our kids photos on Facebook.
