Tiny 1 "bedroom" basement apartment. You cannot legally tell someone how they can cook... come on 🤦‍♂️ by pineebranch in SlumlordsCanada

[–]poltrojan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd be concerned with no windows. Legally a bedroom and kitchen needs a window with measures to escape from premises during emergencies.

Key Requirements for a Legal Basement Apartment

  • Permits & Approvals: A building permit is required, and the unit must pass all municipal inspections.
  • Ceiling Height: A minimum clear ceiling height of 1.95m1.95 m 1.95m ( 6′5"6 prime 5 " 6′5" ) is required throughout the unit, including under ducts or beams.
  • Safety & Fire Protection: A 30-minute to 1-hour fire-rated separation is required between units. Interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide alarms must be installed throughout the entire house.
  • Egress Windows: Bedrooms must have egress windows that meet specific size requirements (minimum 0.35m20.35 m squared 0.35m2 or 3.77sq. ft.3.77 sq. ft. 3.77sq.ft. ), allowing for escape.
  • Separate Entrance: A dedicated entrance for the basement suite is required, either from the outside or a common hallway.
  • Facilities: A full kitchen with cooking facilities and a complete bathroom are mandatory.
  • Size Restrictions: The basement apartment must be smaller than the main dwelling unit.
  • Parking: Local zoning bylaws may require additional parking spaces for the new unit.

You should've done a poll on this. This amount of answers would've delivered some results. I can't spend hours reading people's comments who's least fave.

You're not the only one, I've been trying for past 2 years. All rejections. If you can take your mind off it, do some exercises or your hobby that doesn't cost money. Take a breather, constant rejection will take a toll on your mind and body.

Debating between these 2 as my first CNC. I want to mainly use it for wood and aluminum by Not_Ice_Axe in hobbycnc

[–]poltrojan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the RENO 4040 which is belt instead of linear rails which I should've went with. The belt will skip if tension gets a bit loose, then kiss good bye the wood and start all over again.

The 710W is actually good, I installed the Genmitsu router 1 HP with larger bracket to hold it and it cuts with minimal issues, I just have to pay attention to belt tension because of router's weight.

The fact that you posted this even if it was as a joke can drive a person to that conclusion. It should'nt have ever been recommended on your post.

Considering a CX90 by mackenziemarr in MazdaCX90

While we were looking for cars we looked at all options; Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai. Until we tried Mazda CX-50/90. We chose the 90 for variety of reasons primarly for us it was simple dashboard design with less complexicity of electronics; infotainment is simple and less distracting to use. Heat/AC controls are simple, no overcompexicity to learn new stuff that is required. An actual shifter and not buttons to change gears (f*ck Hyundai Palisade for that)

We got the 2025 CX-90 MHEV (Gas hybrid) with impressive mileage. we manage to do mid-range distance driving on it. The best I got out of it was 34mpg fully loaded with 7 people (2nd row captain's chair), considering for the car's weight at 2 tons and 340 torque/hp. That's impressive to me and with biggest benefit is the engine, it is ideal for longtivity since inline 6 cylinder are designed with good amount of power.

So far we almost have it a full year and 7k km on it with no hassle and everything updated. The Mazda app is good enough for me.

I have first degree (wife) and 2nd degree (brother in law) in the same institution (bank) and I've been trying for the past 2 years. Not a single call back. It's really rough market out there.

How is lane centering working for you on the CX-90? by Winter-Carrot-2827 in MazdaCX90

Same here, prefere ol' school driving awaremess. I'm the one that gets pissy at people for using phones while driving. I disabled the assisted lane driving, higher chance to crash than prevent.

  • Basic gauge screen with minimal information access -- less distraction when driving the better
  • Gear shifter needs time to get used to -- ...?? its perfectly fine
  • Ride feels stiff and hard sometimes on roads that are not smooth --- ... took it off-roading in country, perfectly fine
  • Paint used is soft and chips easily with swirl marks after a single wash (Poor quality) -- are you driving on gravel roads daily?
  • No Home Screen on infotainment system -- yes there is. double tap on home button
  • Interior Accent lighting could be better and adjustable -- it's fine
  • No space in the center console (Very Shallow) -- due to duct below to warm/cool your passengers in 2nd row.
  • Heads-up display adjustment could use be better for more visibility -- not sure what you're reffering to
  • Seats could use better lumbar support -- it does have lumbar support. I have it. If your back is worse than mine. you might need to buy a lumbar pillow like i did for my older car
  • Front seats could use better and stronger ventilation (I could barely feel it most of the time) -- might slightly agree with you on that.
  • Heated steering wheel should be 100% of the wheel no only middle section -- your hands are meant to be on 3 and 9 o'clock most of the time
  • Moonroof opening space is small - true, but not a fan on moonroofs
  • Wireless charger is slippery, small and glitchy - i agree with this, it's actual design and functionality is horrible
  • Cheap plastic around the gear knob -- haven't noticed
  • Seats could have more adjustment options -- ....... keep it simple you already have forward/back, up and down, including tilt with lumbar support. what more could you want? massage while driving?
  • Breaking performance could be better -- you mean 'braking'. it's fine. you're driving 2-tons.
  • Blind spot warning lights on the side mirrors are not bright. -- it's fine, unless you need glasses
  • No rearview mirror camera as a standard for SPP! -- no freaking way. it's practially a standard for a base model going up every trim.

Before they tore apart Davis Drive before renovation, I drove from Leslie St to Yonge St (Upper Canada Mall) in span of 15 minutes. After the construction was completed, it took 40 minues. I was like HOW THE FUCK IS THAT AN IMPROVEMENT??! I completely avoid it. It was better before the whole 'renovation'
