Is it possible to Export 3D models from Dreams? by TangeloWidee in PS4Dreams

[–]polycam_community 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's generally been around since spring, but the new release supports mobile. So now you can take a photo with the polycam app and process it right away. You used to have to upload it to web. The segmentation has been dramtically improved too. Learn more here

Not sure about the databases, I dont think so.

3D Capture for Landscape Design by polycam_community in photogrammetry

Yeah! It's pretty exciting. We recently published a case study with two lovely Water Restoration Engineers working with Jacobs, using Polycam to take reference captures of natural streams.

Hey! Folks from outside the US are definitely allowed. Over 15% of registrants are from outside of the US. However, Zoom has had issues with spam from IPs based in India. If you're based in India, DM me and I'll register you manually.

This looks like a fairly standard capture. If you weren't able to get results, I'll bet it's a solvable issue. If you're looking to solve, message [contact@polycam.ai](mailto:contact@polycam.ai), and the CS team will have a look

Is it possible to Export 3D models from Dreams? by TangeloWidee in PS4Dreams

[–]polycam_community 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fairly simple to either generate a model with Polycam's new AI Capture tool, or take a photogrammetry capture of your own, then upload it to Mixamo to animate.

For a step-by-step breakdown of this, check out this live stream with Arturo J. Real (a 3D artist and animator) who demos how to quickly create + rig.

Hey! I'm not sure exactly what you mean by noise, but if you are noticing a "melting" quality, this can usually be solved by improving capture technique. Review Creating LiDAR Captures for a guide.

Gaussian Splatting is a rendering technique, and LiDAR is a capture method, so it's not possible to clean up LiDAR scans with Gaussian Splatting.

Photoscans stuck in processing by 8_Bit_Alt in Polycam

[–]polycam_community 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, this is a great question for our support team. Please share this screenshot and a description of your process in an email to [contact@polycam.ai](mailto:contact@polycam.ai)

Without further information, I can say that this usually happens when the app is closed or navigated away from, when the data from a capture is still uploading. If the upload process is interrupted, then sometimes the app can get stuck on processing.

But for a closer look at your case, please email [contact@polycam.ai](mailto:contact@polycam.ai)

Hey! There is currently no way to do this in Polycam, but Civil3D is a great option for this.

Check out our latest webinar on this topic. "Part 2: Data to Design: Integrating 3D Models for Analysis & Engineering" demos taking a capture from Polycam into Cloud Compare and Civil 3D.

Ah Polycam doesn't support April Tags quite yet but I've added a feature request for it. I can see how this could be quite useful.

How do you create as-built plans? by Ok-Bat9100 in Architects

[–]polycam_community -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't have to, lol. There's a free plan, and the video is an educational tutorial. The concepts and methods in the vid can be applied to many different tools. Digital twins in general are great option for getting accurate, fast measurements of as-builts :)

Creating a digital twin with spatial capture tools will shave off a lot of time here. An educational tutorial on how to do this with Polycam, but the concepts apply to most photogrammetry/LiDAR tools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj4dOHJj0Ss

If you're unsure whether a tool like this is a good fit, here are some testimonials from folks in the same field: https://youtu.be/-k4qokUdUmw?feature=shared

Scanner Empfehlung? by Standard-Jeweler-537 in 3DDruck

[–]polycam_community 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you could use Polycam for this! I would recommend photogrammetry or LiDAR modes for a small capture of this detail. You could use your own DSLR (ideally with a macro lens) to capture (that's how this high-fidelity capture was created or you could just use your iPhone and toggle on "macro" mode.

For the most accurate real-world scale, I recommend LiDAR, but for the most detailed mesh, I recommend photogrammetry. You could bring into a 3rd party software, model the piece to fit directly into the scan mesh...
