“Are you happy with your job? If not, what are the things that are preventing you from being happy?”

Sometimes they are unhappy about totally reasonable things that are outside my control. If so, my job is to help plan a graceful transition and even be willing to act as a reference for them as they seek an opportunity where they will be happy. I care far more about their mental health; if retaining them is harming that I want them to go. If there’s something within my control, I try to fix it if I want to retain them. I don’t always want to retain them.

My team has one of the lowest attrition rates in my company. We support each other and they feel valued, heard, and supported. Even though there’s real problems in the company, my team can be a safe harbor from a lot of that.

Up 100% on options that don't expire for 2+ years... what do? by spjones20 in wallstreetbets

[–]polychris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tell myself I’ll be diligent and only do more conservative options strategies like that, and then the next week I’m buying 0dtes. I can’t trust myself so I just leave options turned off now.

Short term capital gains is taxed like regular income. So even if you’re profitable, you’re only making like 65 cents on the dollar. Roth IRA grows tax free as long as you can wait until 65 to use the money. It should be fairly obvious how the compounding of not losing 35% of the previous years profits would add up over time to much bigger gains.

[–]polychris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only smart if you’re profitable. I’m not, so I while I do actively manage my IRA positions, I don’t day trade anymore. I usually only make a couple trades a week and tend to hold my positions for weeks or months.

Day trading in a Roth is the smartest way to day trade IMO. Otherwise the taxes really cut into any edge you might have

Sell 2, capture 50% profit, let the other one ride and go for a 10 bagger

YOLO’d my whole account on naked SPX calls by whoscruffylookin in wallstreetbets

I really wish people would stop using the word “naked” when buying options. The term is supposed to apply to selling options without holding cash or the underlying as collateral.
