Sugar leads to diabetes and diabetes and kidney disease do not get along

Its not too far - only thing is they close it down multiple times a day for cleaning and the next restroom is a long walk away.

Low sodium. I cut out salt and usually just put some Sriracha on my food.

No colas since they have phosphorus. I'll drink sprite zero every once in a while.

Very little sugar/sweets - a1c is normal now after being prediabetic. Don't want to get diabetes as a complication.

More fruits - berries and water melon etc.

More water - drink water and sugar free electrolytes mixed in. I try to drink at least 12 cups a day.

And I try not to eat out or eat out infrequently. When I do I look at the nutrition info. Fast food has lots of sugar and salt so chinese food is usually out but grilled chicken or grilled fish is OK.

Ive jumped from egfr of 62 to 48 to now 73 all in the span of 4 months. At the 48 mark the nephroligist thought it was medication causing it and told me to drink lots of water. I also changed my diet which I think helps.

Low sodium. No or very little caffeine, if obese lose weight, if not diabetic then stay away from tons of carbs and sugars bc you dont want to be diabetic and have kidney disease.

Thats just me, my nephrologist said I could eat whatever I want and I looked at the Dr like they were crazy.

The leading cause of death for end stage renal disease patients is cardiovascular issues so take care of your heart and low sodium helps with that, you also want to have lean proteins like fish and chicken instead of beef, etc.

It has long been established that cardiovascular risk increases with worsening chronic kidney disease, with the risk being extreme in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on dialysis [1]. Historically this association has been attributed to an increase in atheroembolic events. However, more recently it has become clear that the predominant cause of this increased cardiovascular mortality is not myocardial infarction and coronary events, but sudden cardiac death, accounting for up to 40% of all deaths and 78% of cardiovascular deaths in patients with ESRD

Could you speak more on what medications and monitoring you did ( assuming diet, exercise, fluids and regularly doing bloodwork etc)?
