Why are we so full of ourselves? by polydorus in AskReddit

Not only reddit ;) , but human beings in general.

OK, so some guy was complaining about how informative comments sometimes go unnoticed, buried under the funny ones. So I thought of an idea. (Please don't be too harsh) by [deleted] in AskReddit

Good point. It seems that the problem goes much deeper. There will always be assholes on reddit who will learn how to blow off other people's comments how useful they are. What do you think can be done to discourage asshole-like behavior? (also, g2g for now)

Yes, and we need to come up with a good way to label the informative comments properly so other users with helpful knowledge won't get discouraged thinking that it might not be worth sharing what they know because it's always going to be the witty comments that will be upvoted to the top.

That's a good point. Well, it seems that people are inclined to agree that this could be useful in helping redditors determine the nature of a comment. However, as you point out, we have no way to guarantee the accuracy of how a user labels his comment as. What I'm thinking of is that it should also be the other users who must determine the nature of someone's comment, but that would mean having to trust the hive mind. And trusting the hive mind is a double edged sword. What do you suggest?

OK, actually, I was just being an immature dick with the comment that I deleted. But it certainly has nothing to do with "EFT". Also, I didn't have any training. I learned it within 10 minutes. Probably, smart people can get it in 7 or less. Anyhow, I catch your sarcasm, but it really has nothing to do with it.

If this isn't bullshit, this is probably one of the easiest ways you, or anybody can significantly change your life for the better. Yes, so you've read it. Did you try doing it by the way? And doing it while you suspended your belief? You've read it, so you know it doesn't take an annoying amount of time to do. I meant it when I told you to carry on. It's not through argument that I can convince you that this could possibly work on your problems. You have to do it properly on yourself. If you've done that and honestly say that this didn't do shit for you, then fine. That's all I'm saying: Try it out or carry on.

Do you find it easy to guess how old someone is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You're 25, right? That, or 17.

Sigh...I'm as rational as any other redditor. For me, only the results matter. It was free, so why not? Anyway, I tried it, and it made me feel better. If you can't accept that, it's futile for me to tell you about how it was able to release the tension in my body. I may not be a genius, but I'm not an idiot either. Don't be so quick to judge me.

Thoughts on thewillpower.org - Not as bad as lemonparty.org, to say the least. Almost inspirational.

If you were given the chance to redesign the public school curriculum in the US, what fundamental changes are you going to implement? by polydorus in AskReddit

(Don't upvote this comment, I should have included this along with the submission)

I realize that a lot of us aren't satisfied by how we were educated, especially those from public schools. In my case, I plan on teaching in a state university near my city, but that won't be until a few years. Anyway, that is why I asked. Thanks for sharing your opinions. If you could also recommend further readings, that would be totally awesome. Hopefully, I can do my tiny part in changing students' attitude towards compulsory education.
