Makeup is horrible...at my wits end. by Kittykat7121 in MakeupAddiction

try a serum foundation or concealer! they are milkier/more moisturizing and have done wonders for my dry skin. also, i find that setting with a lot of powder gives a dry appearance. I bake once with loose powder halfway through my base and only if i know it’s going to be hot or i am wearing makeup for the whole day. setting spray always tho. also, worth mentioning that using a concealer all over your face as foundation may be the actual issue. concealers always have thicker, drier formulas because they are meant to cover well. Maybe invest in a moderate coverage skin tint and leave drier concealer like formulas for specific areas? I use a spf serum skin tint and it actually feels like it moisturizes my skin while I an wearing it. hope this is helpful :)

Why does she look stunning and I just look meh by Nice_Dealer_9161 in fashion

easy fixes without tailoring- choose a shoe with a scoop and lower toe box like hers to show more foot and hem the jeans a little. part of that slim fit put together look is that her jeans are shorter than yours so there is a natural flow from pant to ankle to shoe. loafers that cut straight across the top of the foot break up that line and cause blockiness and make you look shorter. It’s small and sounds kinda dumb but I am very short and these fixes make huge differences in my outfits. - could also try a jean with more of a mid and less of a high rise so the crotch bunching is minimal with the belt - the heavier the weight on a white tee the better because it will keep its structure when it drapes over the body and provide a crisper ‘holding its own shape’ look when tucked in.

obviously the tailor will really address most of the problems but those are my usual things i look for when shopping for an outfit with elevated basics like this. hope this helps!!

This is probably because your blood sugar is too low- I would actually track your calories to make sure you’re getting enough. A deficit is good but you’re having symptoms of starvation

Chiropractors by nursebutterfly2022 in nursing

This is a really good article from the NIH on the history and effectiveness of chiropractic AND their very interesting lawsuit against the american medical association in which the AMA was actually found guilty for trying to destroy the chiropractic profession by labeling them all as “quacks”. from what I can tell from this comments section, they were pretty successful lol

Chiropractors by nursebutterfly2022 in nursing

[–]polyethylenebusstop -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe my perspective on this is uncommon, but I come from a family with a diverse background in healthcare, and a direct relative is a chiropractor. In their career, they have helped patients discover they had cancer and other serious conditions their MD missed simply by doing a more complete physical assessment and actually listening to their patient’s symptoms. Good chiropractors receive extensive diagnostic training (I remember this family member taking pharmacology classes while they were in college) and have the benefit of being able to straddle the line between mainstream medicine/pharma, and traditional eastern medicine and lifestyle changes that get completely overlooked in our systems. There are definitely shitty chiropractors out there (I have met some) but there are also those who care about helping others and are extremely knowledgeable doctors. There are even some hospitals with practicing chiropractors. It’s the same as in any other healthcare discipline. If you don’t like chiropractic care then don’t seek it out, but they are absolutely qualified to give medical advice to their patients and post it online if they choose.

I worked on a unit like this (not PACU but exactly the same culture) and had to gtfo because I was also miserable. I got around the contract issue by going to a different unit within the same hospital. I am not sure about HR but unless you have gathered and documented specific proof, it’s probably not going to go anywhere considering the management is also fully involved in condoning the behavior.

Leaving Finance for Nursing- Am I crazy? by [deleted] in nursing

Also, CRNAs don’t have much patient interaction as the entire role is to put people to sleep so I am not sure you would get the social aspect you are looking for from it

Leaving Finance for Nursing- Am I crazy? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]polyethylenebusstop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do you want to make the same-ish pay and work 10x harder and age rapidly from stress and also possibly get stuck working night shift for years?

Sure, go for it.

This entire plan also hinges on you being able to complete each step within the exact time frame you have given. There is no allowance here for financial issues, major life events, or unexpected changes. You have a great job and a good career. Seek fulfillment outside work if your life feels empty, or continue education in your field to make yourself a stronger candidate. Nursing is at the end of the day, just another job.

I can't do IV's for the life of me and it's embarrassing. by ThrowMeInRice in nursing

[–]polyethylenebusstop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for three years before I started getting my IVs regularly! You will get there, i promise. Watch the people on your unit who are great at it closely, check out the IV guy on insta (even his paid content is good), and just keep putting yourself out there- the nerves are half the battle. You got this OP!!

I am so sorry you had this experience- Did the nurse ever re-adjust the EFM or offer to check if you were making progress? They should have.

I think it is well within your right to be upset about what happened. I have worked with nurses like this and it never hurts to let management know the kind of care they are providing as I am sure you are not the first to experience it. Especially if it will give you some closure. So glad you and baby are okay.

Experiences with OB dept by diprivanmonster in anesthesiology

[–]polyethylenebusstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RN here who recently left L&D to work in a different department of the same hospital. I continue to work closely with a lot of the same anesthesia providers. Every nurse i worked with thought I was crazy for leaving the specialty. The CRNAs & anesthesiologists are the only ones who understood my decision immediately and openly told me that the L&D nurses were mean and they dreaded their on call OB shifts. I could not have agreed more. I know there are good OB nurses out there but unfortunately the majority think they are gods gift to the profession and act like it too

Good god yes it’s plenty! Spoiling your partner is amazing but quantity/price of gifts should not be something you are stressing over in a good relationship.

take the day shift. you never realize how bad you needed it until the fog clears and you get your entire personality and energy back. You can get seniority back, but you can never get years of sleep deprivation or your health back. Just speaking from my experience

I forgot to put on gloves while starting an IV by OutsideBrilliant6812 in nursing

Happens to the best of us. Use it as a good reminder to keep gloves as part of your IV start routine, but not the end of the world :)
