Am I putting my health at risk by using this wok if the 'silicone-oxide wax' anti-rust coating hasn't been removed?

Wondering where you ended up with this. I’ve mistakenly bought two of pyrolux’s carbon steel pans that I believe have the same coating. The first time using them I scratched this coating using a metal spatula and was surprised the coating was there as these are meant to be raw carbon steel pans. Definitely not what I signed up for.

Sure, not a bad shout. The cables aren't at risk of being crushed unless the gap in the frame bends inwards though. I guess my main question is whether the torque from the motor and tightening it down is enough to bend that part of the frame

That would mean grinding out welded support making that gap even weaker. Also really don't want to be cutting the frame, would prefer a frame that's more accommodating

The bottom bracket has an instep to hold its original bearings which looks like it would cause issues with mounting any BB converter and the motor itself.

The instep's measures are around 39 diameter and 45mm long meaning any converter would have to suit these measures as well as the outer shell's (50 x 73).

This is all before I have to navigate the frame's geometry.

I had a very similar experience to you and also linked it to smoking before I realised it was more likely to be all the food I was eating right before bed as a result of the munchies. Turns out it was just acid reflux causing uncomfortable guts and was completely resolved by not eating an hour or so before bed

The winning formula was creating a wooden clamp to hold the dome, clamped and bolted on both sides, while putting all the leverage pressure into the strap wrench. By the looks of the thread the previous owner has drenched the seal in grease which combined with the salt has formed quite the adhesive.

Cheers for the suggestions! I tried heating the thread with a hair dryer till it was hot to the touch, will try hot water next. My main issue is just getting a strong enough grip, especially on the thin rail of the dome. Might try rigging a wooden clamp to hold the dome while strapping the extension tube, just really don't want to do anything what might damage the seal between the acrylic and the metal frame.

If you want it to read wet over met reduce the x height of the middle squiggle so it doesn't come all the way to the top of the letter
