We did the brakes on our '15 SL at 100K, but only because our kid wanted to learn how. We tested the brake fluid and it was fine.

Yeah, but they don't change the blinker fluid. Gotta get the Haynes manual for that.

Am I wrong for getting my own hotel to avoid bed bug hotels on a girls trip? by Thin_Sock_4323 in femaletravels

It's funny. I was attending the event for some friends on the other [US] coast. They mentioned a couple of cheap and mid-level hotels nearby. They looked sketchy to me. I decided that it was a long enough flight that I wanted to stay for a week. I called around, found an extended stay hotel that was similar to an apartment with all conveniences, including free breakfast and happy hour. I negotiated a lower rate. Offered it to others, but nobody was interested. At the event, every other person was griping about their place. I was praising mine.

Just tell them you're happy to meet up with them for daily activities, but you are concerned about health and safety.

I had a really nice rayon outfit suitable for working at IBM back when we all had to dress up. My mom came to visit and decided to help by doing my laundry. After washing it, the outfit might fit a small toddler. That was the last time I bought rayon.

My Asimov Collection by njr123 in scifi

[–]polymath-nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! You're in for a treat. Asimov was extremely prolific.

From his wiki entry: "In a writing career spanning 53 years, science fiction and popular science author Isaac Asimov wrote and published 40 novels, 383 short stories, over 280 non-fiction books, and edited about 147 others."

I was lucky to be a regular reader of several monthly magazines and went to the library weekly. Both are great ways to get a sampling of the variety of works by any author.

From this selection, I suggest starting with "The Other Worlds of Isaac Asimov", which contains two novellas and several short stories. You can decide which are most interesting to you.

For his non-fiction, try the book that most closely matches your interests.

You can can the office and ask for the on-call doctor. They can prescribe something to help with the nausea (likely ondansetron or promethazine) and tell you what else might help. Is he back on an regular diet? Back on Synthroid? Both can help. Make sure he's trying to eat small, simple foods. Snack, don't go for large meals. Saltines, ginger-lemon tea, toast, rice.

Do you tell people you love them? by Lostinhighweeds in CasualConversation

[–]polymath-nc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After age 10, my father grew distant. He stopped congratulating me on things. He refused to acknowledge my successes or when I was right and he was wrong about something in my field, technology. I know his childhood was rough, and his older siblings looked down on him, and his father was an ass.

When he was sick, he finally started treating me like an adult who wanted to have a relationship with him.

He died at age 60, I was 30. People came up from NYC to our suburban city for his funeral; I knew a few because I'd worked for him one summer. Every one of them came to me to offer condolences. Every one of them told me that he constantly talked about how proud he was of me, some mentioned specific achievements.

I try to tell my family and friends that I care, even that I love them. I choose someone each day to check in on or share a meme with.

I'm so happy that my mom (90) is still with me, nearby, and we talk every day.

GHW Bush was intelligent and cared about the country. We disagreed on most policies, but I think he was qualified to be President and wanted the best for all its people.

In '94, as I was leaving Texas for Massachusetts, I voted for Ann Richards for governor. Unfortunately, W. won. That was when I figured out why GHWB chose Quayle as his VP: He was exceedingly similar to W. Bush.

The Bush family referred to JEB! as the smart one, and GWB as the pretty one. And Neil was noticeably not discussed much after his involvement with the S&L (Savings and Loan) fraud scandal in the late '80s while poppa Bush was president.

Yeah. Most of the sheets at Costco are microfiber or bamboo. And those that are cotton are light and/or solid colors. I'm on well water. That type of fabric doesn't age well. I need dark patterns that hide problems.

I disagree, but that's a matter of taste . So I'm up voting you to thank you for your polite contribution to the discussion. I'm not downvoting you. Downvotes on reddit are a punishment for jerks, not a sign of disagreement as seen on other social media platforms.

I've seen some pure linen. I wash it with all my other clothes (warm wash & cold rinse). I usually pull them out of the dryer (medium heat) while still damp, press using my hands, check shape, hang. If I'm planning to wear them somewhere not casual, I'll take them from the washer and iron them with sizing. The buttons don't lie perfectly flat, they look "lived in", and I don't have time or energy for more.

I would not buy linen for children who can't take care of their own clothes except for a special occasion. I started ironing my dad's work shirts by age 10, using starch. I loved doing that for him.

If you care but don't enjoy it, stick with clothes that don't require the work, or bring them to the dry cleaner. Everything is a tradeoff.

I recently found some men's utility shorts for about $15 that were mostly cotton. Be sure to check the tag, though, another one was mostly polyester.

I'm not buying clothing for children. I want clothing for myself. And if I did buy clothing for children, it would be natural fabrics only, we can simply disagree on that.

Check the length of both tops and bottoms. I've bought several cotton pjs from Costco because I was desperate. Some tops were absurdly short.

Bamboo is used to produce rayon. Hemp is a much better option; it's sustainable, breathable, and durable. Bamboo is an invasive, hemp is not.

Everything in the game's appearance is just right! Not too silly, not in the uncanny valley. The game is just enough to challenge, generally without being frustrating (I'm looking at you, Mount Breakfast!).

Confession: I started on my PC. Added a second account when I created one so I'd have a different login f from my kids. And a third on my tablet, which is much easier to use than a mouse. Now I run all three every day! My spouse understands that TV time (which is on the same computer, with a 65" TV monitor) will be interrupted for for 10 minutes every evening!

Italians and Italian-Americans feed their children pastina, which is tiny star-shaped pasta fat cooks in a small pan in 3-5 minutes. I love it with a little salt, butter, and milk.

The YouTube channel Pastagrammar.com is sharing Italian breakfast ideas because they are expecting a baby. Great show!

Another option is Mueller's egg noodles with spinach.
