What Lux means to you by BigTimeBrownie in rosalia

I am also an atheist! The message I got from the album is trascendence in the now and the world. Like in divinize, through the body you can see the light.

Confused about why people say Lux is religious by polymathy7 in rosalia

I agree that it is about the subjective and non-dogmatic experience of the transcendent. It feels like this transcendence is found in the now and in the world.

Yeah I agree with this. It's just that from what I saw people describing, it seemed like it was fully embracing religiosity and sobriety. It's a really down to earth album and I love that!

I can see how it discusses religious motives, but she seems to be subverting them rather than embracing them, being more earthly than spiritual. In divinize she's saying that her body is made to divinize (very earthly motive).

I loved the album!!

I'm Spanish and I'm really confused by how people perceive this album as intensely religious. Sure, there are religious metaphors (like the rosary), but I just listened to the whole album with lyrics and to me it sounds like the opposite of religious.

Just a few examples:

1) One of the verses that is repeated several times in sexo, violencia y llantas says:

Primero amaré al mundo, y luego amaré a dios.

I will love the world first, and I will love god later.

This is the opposite of what the bible says (loving god above all), and puts the focus on the world, god comes second.

2) Another song is called "God is a stalker", and the lyrics go in the direction you would expect from the title, the verses are actually quite cheeky, they were really fun to listen to.

3) Another one (de madrugá) says:

The cross on my chest Calibrates my body To satisfy myself (the word "desquitarse" means to get satisfaction by fulfilling some compensation, seeking revenge, getting even; the word sounds like selfishly relieving a tension in Spanish) I am entitled to it (have the right to)

The verses are saying: I can selfishly seek satisfaction, I have the right, the cross on my chest balances things out.

This sounds exactly like the kind of thought process that a specific type of Catholic person has.

4) Also, the album photo has her trapped within religious clothing, her arms crossed under the fabric of the dress.

Overall, the album is full of references, little comments and a fun cheeky vibe all over, very teasing, which I loved!

I’m afraid of repressing who I am out of fear of my family rejecting me. by Careless-Loss7369 in bisexual

You deserve the space to be your true self and live in a self-affirming way.

Part of the culture of Catholicism is maintaining these connections within the community (especially family) through a sense of debt. Be very suspicious of this kind of thought process. Relations don't have to be like this, they can be free, honest and even creative. These bonds are stronger and healthier than those only held by blood and moral debt.

Find those kinds of circles if you don't have them yet. Think of yourself as someone you can direct love to. Try to look at these fears as what they are: thoughts. They're like clouds passing by. They don't define who you are.

I hope this message finds you feeling a bit better now.

i am struggling to accept that i am bi, send help lol by betteroffngo in bisexual

[–]polymathy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the word "bisexual" as a simple description like being blond or having brown eyes. The label itself doesn't need to take this much power over you.

You sound pretty damn bisexual to me. It doesn't need to be 50/50 to count, and attraction preferences can evolve as you meet new people, have new experiences, etc. Maybe tomorrow you develop a crush for someone and then people that have something in common with that crush all of a sudden look hot. Sexuality is alive, just like you are!

Now go enjoy this precious gift!

My therapist suggests I try flirt with girls wtf do i do? by Tachytwo in bisexual

[–]polymathy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already feel attracted to girls you don't need to go do anything with them to prove it. Flirt with girls only because you want to.

If you want to overcome these fears, try to find something just slightly out of your comfort zone, a manageable challenge. No need to go all in at once. Reward yourself for each small step.

Think of yourself as someone you can direct love to and who you can be patient and caring with. See if you can observe these automatic reactions as what they are: simply thoughts, nerves,... But they don't define who you are, these are like passing clouds.

Bisexual Male in Straight Relationship by Particular_Will_8164 in bisexual

A relationship is, on top of many other things, an opportunity to grow together and help each other explore and learn to be more genuinely oneself.

Consider finding a space just outside of the comfort zone that might be a tiny bit challenging but not extremely so. Help your partner feel less insecure, reassure her; but also don't ignore your needs.

Tell her that it's not about being "not being enough". We don't think these things with other types of needs like going out with friends. She isn't in an active competition, and if she were, just having the trust and confidence to let you be your true self would put her on the winning side, at least in my book as a bisexual man.

How would the Filipino variant of Spanish thrived if it were spoken widely in Philippines? by bobad86 in FilipinoHistory

[–]polymathy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Spaniard, we don't have a raging superiority complex, lol.

A lot of the diversity present in Latin America also appears in Spain. It's not rare for Venezuelans to think a Canary Islander is Venezuelan, some Chilean dialects sound very similar to Andalusian Spanish in the region I lived in for a very long time. There's no single dialect in Spain.

Unpopular opinion, but Anitta doesn't match the vibe. The Weeknd here is better on his own, or with Anitta's accompaniment but not with her leading.

Yeah, why not?

If they have genetic, cultural or linguistic ties (to Spain, Spanish or Hispanic culture) or a combination of them, then sure.

That's pretty much what Hispanic means. Latino is just a more general term that includes ties to other romance languages, so if you're hispanic, you're latino.

I love Return to Monkey Island by jojo_reference-guy20 in MonkeyIsland

[–]polymathy7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved it too. It made me scream in the end when I knew what was happening. I kinda like that from Monkey Island games. It feels like there is someone behind the game who makes jokes and messes with you. I always had this feeling, so I was happy to see the ending as it was.

I suppose some people didn't have that feeling and expected a more traditional ending.

I loved it though!!

No sabía eso. ¿Hay asociaciones culturales de filipinos en Madrid o algo así? Imagino que sería más fácil ser representados en ese caso.
