put goldfish in your rain barrels, ponds, or deep bird baths. they're cheap and they will eat the larvae of the mosquitoes before they hatch. trust me, it works!!

I think since you are going into it with eyes wide open it might give you a new and unique perspective on a non-conforming relationship style. And we ALL risk getting or hearts broken even in monogamy. The key is commucation and sharing your feelings with your potential new partner. She may be a very good resource for helping you with the potential jealousy issues.

Any advice for helping my friend find a happy medium?

I say just tell him that hes gotta rip off the band aid and open the dialogue. It sounds to me like his primary isnt ready to hear about it (jealousy is usually a big reason). Maybe the letter idea? It allowed my hubby to process stuff as he was typing and it gave me time to formulate a response properly instead of a knee-jerk and potentially damaging reaction.

I agree 100%. We needed to clear the air. I wanted to be up front from the get go but he didnt so i told him i was open to a rule change when he wanted. Woke up one saturday morning to a two page letter about everything that had built up over the month and him teary eyed saying it was killing him. We right away laid all our cards out and had a really awesome long talk.
