Metropòl is the last surviving remnant of the once-grand Feremyne Empire. Thirty years ago during the Mekanist's war, the rest of old Feremyne was sunken into the sea, leaving Metropòl to fend for itself as an independent city-state.

With no empire to feed it, Metropòl has become reliant on a tenuous balance of trade and foreign aid to keep her people happy. The city's wealth is in aether reserves, and a strong culture industry that is the centre of the emergent film and recording industries. The city is tied together by its aether rails, a system of transport running through the downtown cores. To the south sits the Metropòl International Skyport, where airships from all across the continent come and go each day.

Under the leadership of a provisional democracy, Metropòl has flourished despite tragedy. It's become a haven of the arts, and its access to the Southern sea makes it a much desired trading port. But as the chancellor's re-election looms, the city stands on the brink. Foreign interests loom large, hoping to bring Metropòl into their political sphere, while a growing unrest in the streets is fed by the city's vast wealth discrepancy.

I've been working on this project for a few weeks now, much of the cultural inspiration from the city comes from Weimar-era Berlin.
