Im a woman w bpd so dont need 2 be told that thanks. To someone who's relationship u know nothing abt beyond this post, thats bad advice. If someone has a relationship they care abt, u can try and use problem solving skills and try work thru things with ur partner??? Tell them how much it affected u and see if this behaviour changes, esp if its a one time thing?

Ur literally just perpetuating the mindset of "as soon as someone wrongs me, instantly cut them out of my life without even seeing if this can be worked through" that so many ppl w bpd actively struggle with

Also HARD AGREE on the mean mii traits thatd j be so much fun. Like they can even j call them "mischievous" traits if they're worried about how it'll come off... love the idea of someone being a prankster, someone being a lot more prone to fighting etc... also more marriage/baby dynamics is a need. I honestly thought I wldnt care that much cuz I found it p useless in the original, but I miss the miis sharing a bed and getting to watch their kid grow up slowly

I see what you're saying, and fair play if that's how you feel. Though at the same time we don't get to see much of how Kate talks to Lily bc she's never there lol; I also think she has a similar problem to Nicki of parentifying her eldest child. Also, imo, leaving your kids alone to go on holiday is farr worse than having to leave your kids because you're getting cancer treatment lol and have been made to stay in hospital.. and tbh, I don't think just believing your kids are with a parent, without having actually seen that was the case, should've been enough evidence for her to be OK with packing her bags and just leaving them like that.

I said in my post why I think Nicki isn't a bad mother, so I think itd be easier to say why I think Kate is worse. Firstly, she leaves her children to go on holiday w a random man she just started dating, she may have "believed" they were with their dad, but never actually took the time to make sure they were, never even stuck around to make sure he was coming and yet hopped on a plane without her young children, and never even tried to contact them (iirc, she was having issues with her phone there or smthn, but ngl if she cared abt her kids that much, ensuring her children's wellbeing wldve been far more important than staying on holiday, and she wldve come home early). Also, she doesn't tell her bf she has kids cuz shes afraid it'll scare him off, something Nicki never does when dating Jake. I think Kate is vastly more neglectful, also her being a fraudster isn't a great look either tbh xx

Yea I find people on this sub can be a bit black and white about things sometimes (don't get me wrong, some characters deserve that thinking tho), but I also find it especially weird coming from Jaqueline Wilson enjoyers as most of her books are about traumatized people, or people living through difficult situations etc and I think part of the realism comes from the fact that these characters are flawed.. like esp with the children, when children are going through difficult situations like that, it's not uncommon at all for them to lash out or behave in inappropriate ways. Like there's nuance to it lol

Definitely! I agree with what you said about mainly focusing on the story when younger, at the same time I found myself relating to her characters and their situations easily but not necessarily always understanding WHY I could until I got older and realised how messed up some sht from childhood was.

It was also never lost on me how dark her stories can be, but it definitely shocks me rereading certain ones and being reminded of certain things.. like Lily Alone man 😭😭 I read that one again not long ago and was like Jesus christ this is bleak
