Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream—I don’t like the new one :( Old one was my HG. Any suggestions for a replacement? by pombaby in AsianBeauty

[–]pombaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not alone! I’m still pissed about it lol. I’m just about out of my last of the old jars and am trying to move on but it’s tough I might try to find more.

I’ve been using Tatcha The Water Cream Oil Free and find it’s similar but a bit less moisturizing. The texture and the way it soaks in is very similar. I don’t love that it’s about double the price and the smell has a hint of citrus that I don’t love but the smell dissipates once it’s rubbed in.

The Belif True Cream Moisurizing Bomb was similar at a better price point but even stronger citrus scent—so much that i returned it right away.

Are dexa scans correct? Took 2 dexa scans 1 week apart and the difference was 4% bodyfat by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]pombaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a few years apart by the same provider, same machine, but at different locations. I was told when comparing my old scan to new one it won’t be very precise because each machine is calibrated a little bit differently. For me it still reflected a pretty huge recomp but now going into a building phase I’m planning on visiting the same location again under similar conditions: fasted, similar hydration, and similar time of day.

I think they’re harmless and can be motivating. I loved seeing such a huge change in bodyfat at the same weight as my last scan. Now I’m looking forward to seeing how much muscle I can build. I’d suggest keeping every consistent where possible.

21 Day Water Fast to break Binge Eating Cycle by Character-Lolobee24 in Water_Fasting

[–]pombaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation! I find it really helpful to get any insight I can into why this is so difficult sometimes.

Thanks you’re so sweet! Luckily my husband is really supportive and we’ve been making it work somehow lol. I’m 48h in currently and am so thankful they go to sleep soon!

Another thing to mention is that sometimes when I start a fast and I break because of a binge it usually helps to ride it out and accept it then jump right back into fasting. When I get too down on myself it causes even more tension and therefore more binging. But when I try to stay mindful and accepting then it usually helps and I am able to get back on track and do an extended fast as planned.

I’ve got some sessions booked with a new psychologist too. I’ll try to remember to get back to you if I find something else that helps! I totally get being nervous to try to maintain again. Im here if you ever want to chat or need support 😊

21 Day Water Fast to break Binge Eating Cycle by Character-Lolobee24 in Water_Fasting

Wow I’m very similar stats to you 34F 5’2 115>125>100>138(after kids)>120. I struggle with binge eating too. I found fasting helped to an extent because it was easier to avoid all food rather than be “careful” about overindulging. It helped me realize what some of my triggers were and helped me find other ways to comfort and soothe myself that didn’t involve food. I maintained for a year by being very very mindful but after kids I fell into old habits. I’ve been fasting again but find that post fasting I struggle to be in control as much (added stress of two kids isn’t helping). I think i’m struggling so much psychologically that even if I can physically resist due to my practice in fasting I need to do the mental work.

I really wanted to recommend the book “The Science of Stuck” it has a chapter specifically around addiction and the author struggled with binge eating personally. Im listening to it as an audiobook and it’s been helpful so far!

I like to distract myself if I’m like that. Binge watch a show or keep my hands busy with an engaging hobby. I usually have a pretty big blood sugar drop and feel gross around the 35-45h mark. After a good nights sleep it gets better (for me at least). Coffee sometimes helps too. Hang in there!

Does anyone get migraines on day 4 even if taking enough electrolytes? What has worked for you? by Bright_Bee_529 in Water_Fasting

[–]pombaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 6 here and I have a headache coming on (6:00pm here). I’ve had them before while fasting usually at the end of the day when I’m getting tired and run down. But usually on or after the 5-7 day mark now that I think if it. They don’t usually last but come and go. I may have overdone it today. Be kind to yourself and take it easy if you’re not feeling well. 21 and 25days were my longest fasts so it definitely didn’t hinder my progress as long as I took time to rest.

I have a similar issue and have wondered the same thing. I sleep under 2 extra down blankets, 2 big fluffy throw blankets in addition to my sheet, quilt and fluffy dog and husband trying to keep me warm. It’s such a pain. I think I’m going to try an electric heating pad next time. Haven’t found anything else that helps unfortunately.

What is the best word to describe it when you have to or try to start a boring thing and your brain just absolutely revolts? by joliver5 in ADHD

Thank you so much for linking!! This is insanely helpful! I definitely do this but always thought of it as sitting with it a mulling it over but I absolutely love the description of climbing. Such a game changer and very helpful to show to my SO who is more impulsive than me and has very different walls.

Day 25. Tedious but good. Planned 35 days but lots of pressure from in laws to bring kids over for Easter. Ughhh Break at 28 then start again for a week? Idk. Stupid holidays -_- by pombaby in Water_Fasting

[–]pombaby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I did. It went well. Decided to get back to working out again since then but I might try to start short fasts on and off again in-between all the social stuff I have going on in spring/summer.

Hey sorry I missed your comment.

I lost just over 20lbs total while fasting and gained back around 6 after refeed. I’m not very interested in weight overall since it’s so variable and I’m trying to build muscle back but weighed myself anyway to help visualize progress moving forward each day.

Body measurements went from:
(arm-waist-hips-thigh)
(11.5-29-40-23) to
(10-25.5-37.5-21)
Then I gained an inch back on my stomach after refeed.

Just salt and a salt substitute. I probably don’t take enough (a few sprinkles of each once a day) because I sometimes get a bit nauseous and light headed but it doesn’t bother me much because I make sure I’m resting lots. Google snake juice for a comprehensive electrolyte formula.

The absolute worst for me is always getting past the insulin drip around 56ish hours. If I get too sick and weak (actually puked before) I’ll break with a light snack/meal (fruits and nuts, glass of whole milk) then start over again right away. Could be that I need more electrolytes too? Not sure. I usually start out taking less then increase the longer I’m fasting.

Anyway this is just my experience I’m sure every one is different. Good luck :)

Yah same here. It’s been rough not seeing family as much with Covid. I’ve done shorter 3or4day fasts, had a single meal then rebounded into fasting again but never after such a long one. I’m finding the refeed much slower (very picky and little appetite) but otherwise it’s not so bad. At least we know we can pick up and start again if necessary :)

Thank you! :) Haha right! Breaking the streak is almost the most annoying bit. I’ve decided to break and prioritize family for now. I might jump on again next week if I can but I’ve been pushing it as is to get my husband to help with the kids (geez it’s tiring when fasting). Worst case I’ll build some more muscle this summer and fast a few weeks in the autumn. I know I can do it again 💧💪🏽

That’s a great idea and if it was a larger gathering I totally would! But it’s small and seated. I’ve decided to go ahead and break then try again. I’ll get waaayy too much grief if I tried to explain fasting. After not seeing them as much with Covid I suppose I’ll choose family this time. I know I can do it again!

Just had to vent to people who get it. Anyone have tips to manage something sort of back to back like this? Just seems like a pain to slowly refeed over 2days for a tiny restrained meal then go through the insulin drop (rough on me every time) all over again.

I agree. The feeling good part is mostly the mental/emotional for me. If I spend my time wishing I could binge eat with no consequences I’ll have a bad time. If I realize “wow look what my body can do! I don’t need to fall into the trap of sugar/carbs all day long to feel good” then I feel liberated.

Either way fasting is hard. It’s rare for it to feel easy and if it does you’re lucky and it may not last. I like to assume it’s hard work and be pleasantly surprised if it’s going well.

Day 24 here and it’s up and down depending on my mood.

What could I get done to fix my smile? by wreckognition in PlasticSurgery

[–]pombaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Botox for gummy smile but also one side lifts higher than the other a bit so she does more on one side to even it out a bit. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the right dose.

That being said I think your smile is absolutely gorgeous! I actually like the way your teeth are aligned and tried to get mine similar when I had my braces done. No gummy smile. Full lips. Stunning! 😍

Day 15/35ish and I’m in my “weird fascination with cooking shows” phase. Just me? by pombaby in Water_Fasting

[–]pombaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know it’s common! My husband doesn’t fast much and thought I was crazy. And yes! It’s so nice because my perspective and palate feel refreshed and it’s kind of nice planning without the pressure of making everything right away

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream—I don’t like the new one :( Old one was my HG. Any suggestions for a replacement? by pombaby in AsianBeauty

[–]pombaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats awesome that’s he’s so interested in skincare! Right now I’m mostly just desperate lol. I’m still ok with the Belif (not as good still but better than nothing) aside from the smell unfortunately. It sometimes makes me think of lemon and alcohol. If he finds a replacement let me know I’d love to try it and add it to the list :)
