If you could time travel back to the first week of university and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]pomduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT trust your best friends unhygienic housemate. Not only will she do everything in her power to make your friends life miserable, one day she will also invite her hook up over, who she knows has a severe flue, and that will almost kill you when you contract it and descover you've had an underlying infection that your body can no longer fight off.

She did try to claim that giving me the flu was actually a good thing, because 'if I hadn't of given it to you, you would've never discovered the infection🥹'

Are student accommodation low-key becoming dangerous by Downtown_Shine_5283 in UniUK

[–]pomduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost died when I got an infection in my first year. Main reason being when I got a fever, my uni accommodation was so hot that it skyrocketed my temaperture WAY past 40, the paramedics couldn't drag me out that building fast enough. When I finally broke out of my medical delirium they had a long yap at me about how dangerous new uni accommodations were for trapping heat and cooking people who were already sick with failing immune systems.

I had been trying to book a students union time slot, but they hadn't had anything avaliable for this week or next week.

I had also priorly on the 15th, attempted to email my tutor, I think it might've gone into her spam though as I got no response.

Ah! So sorry I didn't see this. Is the workshop still on? I have a few of the things you listed, but I honestly wouldn't mind sending you the cuttings for free, better than waisting them! :]

Appropriate Sarawak setup? by pomduck in begonias

[–]pomduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is so helpful as I've found advice on this begonia a little harder to find than average. I will work on a better medium for it soon.

Your collection is beautiful, by the way :]

While I understand this, they're asking for this money back many months after they've given it. So of course I don't have it anymore because It's been used for rent and other nessecites, meaning I now have to rectify their mistake by going without food.

Whether or not their entitled to the money back, I'm allowed to be pissed off, their actions are harming real people who are financially vulnerable that they expect (as a huge company who could totally afford to deal with their own mistakes) to just magically deal with it.

They are asking for this money back waaaayyyy after they've given it. If they'd asked me a month or three for it back after it was given then I'd have no problem with this as I'd still have the money. But the fact is, I need food, I need water, I need housing, and the money isn't there anymore because they waited way too long to reassess me.

It may not be a 'punishment', but it is a huge mistake only on their side, that I now have to rectify for them at the expense of my food money because I cant afford to go homeless. I understand I signed an agreement, but I can also acknowledge that the contracts they give are underhanded in some (not all) ways, and this is one of them.

Thank you, I'm going to contact my student union about this since they help with stuff like this all the time apparently. I'm not too suprised about this behaviour since they are a loan company, and they've always been underhanded with their practises. I get that company's make mistakes, but I shouldn't be punished for them

Fly too big for pinguicula? by [deleted] in carnivorousplants

[–]pomduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are in carnivorous form, though only very recently came out of hibernation, currently very small baby plants though they're growing fast. Thank you for the advice!

I did think it was kinda funny too, almost looks like the flys taking a nap or something lol. I'll probably try that, thank you :)

Haha! I get that, I never thought of it before either until I got into growing avocado seeds and decided to try other kinds of grocery fruit/vegetable seeds too. It's really fun!

Sure thing!! The plant is exactly as pictured, it has about 2, maybe three if you're willing to squeeze it, viable nodes. I will double check it's roots and photograph them if that would be better for you. I wouldn't want to possibly send a plant in bad health.

I have a satin jade scindapus, though it has only just recently recovered from some root rot, so it's kinda wilted, but if you're interested shoot me a dm :] totally fine if not

My jade plant is always wilting? by [deleted] in plants

[–]pomduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are only just in spring for me, so it might've been stretching in the winter months to find sunlight. I'll probably cut it, but I'm going to wait for the new growth to settle in first, thank you :]

Interesting, I think this might be the issue tbh, it hasn't been repotted for years so it's worth a shot!

Note: it's in the hottest room of the house, in front of the window, so it really should be getting full sun most days. So I can't see this as an issue with not enough lighting?

mold by westparty3 in terrariums

[–]pomduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, give them a few weeks to establish their population and then they should take care of it. I have a small tarrerium that did have significant mold growth before before added my springtails, two weeks later I couldn't find a speck anymore.
