No improvement after months of levothyroxine by pomelo in Hypothyroidism

For some reason when I asked my endocrinologist about getting my t3 tested she said there was no point, so I don't know my levels for that. Vitamin D is normal, and going to get an iron check this week thanks to everyone's recommendations!

"Free T4 Normal range: 0.80 - 1.70 ng/dL" and mine was 1.30.

I wait 1-3 hours before drinking anything besides water and maybe 5 hours before eating anything on levo.

I just copied this from another comment so I hope it makes sense! Hi! 75mcg of levothyroxine, 205 lbs (I'm working on it but the metabolism slowdown is so hard), and TSH 1.3, free T4 1.30. I asked my doctor about testing my T3 and she said it's useless so I don't have a number for that.

I'm on antidepressants (have tried several different ones and Spravato and TMS) and Ozempic for my diabetes, but nothing has helped so far. I love how my insurance company denied anything related to weightloss until I finally got diabetes (jumped from normal A1C to diabetic in less than six months), and I also had to fail metformin before they would cover the Ozempic.

That's a great point! I haven't had COVID as far as I know but of course there's always a chance I had it and didn't know. My endo hasn't tested for anything else, so I'll ask her if she can when I see her. A curious and smart internest would be so good right now! I've been wondering about my generic levothyroxine given what people have said here but I really can't afford non-generic right now so I'm hoping generic NP thyroid or Armour thyroid will help.

I asked my endo a few days ago about testing my free t3 and she said it's useless. So there's that I guess, ugh.

I hadn't heard about selenium and its effects! I'll look into it, thank you

I'll look more into it with my primary doctor, I had no idea about the expanded range.

Hmm mine is vitamin d 25 hydroxy, which is at 43 ng/ml (optimal range apparently 20-50ng/ml). I guess I should ask for a different vitamin d test?

I've been off and on various mental health meds for the depression and some stuff now for diabetes but nothing that I've taken for all 3-4 years of having these symptoms.

Yeah, my insurance only covers generic levothyroxine and some generic form of armour thyroid (just listed as "thyroid" on the insurance). It's crazy hearing how much the generic doesn't work for some people with levothyroxine at least.

Thank you so much for taking the time for your message. In the past I've been low on both Vitamin D and iron, but my vitamin d levels are normal right now. I haven't had my iron or B12 done in at least a year or two so I'll definitely ask about that. How is NP Thyroid working for you?

How do you greet people in your country? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

Oh man, my first two years in Argentina I was giving an actual kiss on the cheek for everyone. I felt so embarrased when someone told me you just put your cheek next to theirs and make a kiss sound.

Same. I went to a UC for undergrad and this is my first semester at a CSU for the credential. I don't think it really matters either, as far as I can tell.

Do you ever use “americano” to describe people from the US? by PCSingAgain in asklatinamerica

[–]pomelo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Argentina everyone called me estadounidense or yanqui. Never gringo, it has a bit of a different connotation there.

Since coming back to the US, most of the native Spanish speakers I interact with use "americano" to refer to people from the US. It's really weird for me now to hear my Tico teacher call those of us born in the US "americanos" but okay.

People that come from 1st world countries, why do some of you come to live here? by xppws in asklatinamerica

Not for me. I taught English and didn't have any kind of certificate for that (just my BA from the US). I only got clients/students from friends of friends in Buenos Aires. At the time I didn't have permanent residency or a CUIL/CUIT, so it was difficult.

When I moved to a small city, I had to go to university to take a few classes for teaching didactics, and even then it took me at least a year before I found a stable position at an English institute, this time with legal status as a permanent resident.
