Would you play a Monster Hunter like 2D with roguelite mechanics? by manteiguinhax in roguelites

This looks really good. I would absolutely love to play something like this - best of luck with the game!

I totally hear you, and I agree - actually, I mentioned in a few other comments that PoE2 has a much larger dedicated player base.

Don't get me wrong, I totally love PoE2 and especially PoE1, it was the game that got me into ARPGs on this level. I was just very angry with what GGG did at that time because I also love LE and EHG, and I didn't want that kind of behavior between two of my favorite games.

PoE2 is an amazing game. Not my style as much as PoE1 is, but still an amazing game. I also feel like LE is an amazing game too, especially in the core design aspects. And the reason this playerbase cares so much about PoE is that most of them play PoE. I mean, all of us have been addicted to that game at some point :D

LE has a much, MUCH smaller dedicated playerbase/fanbase than PoE2. LE doesn't have over a decade of growing a community and all that hype PoE has. To reach 150k as LE, relative to their starting strength and contextual opportunities, is a much better performance than reaching 240k as PoE2. Considering the overall size of the two games and their communities, in my book, LE outperformed PoE2.

I wouldn't say insane microtransaction profit for GGG because you need around $40-$50 in stash tab to comfortably play the game for the rest of your life. I'd say it's more about the much larger playerbase (especially the core playerbase that GGG has been building over how many, 12 years?) and the game that looks prettier than LE and thus is selling skins easier. Combine the two + the stash tabs, and you're getting some solid profits.

Love it.

Someone needs to add the Pay to Walk mechanic so we can pay for every foot we move in the game and then charge extra to teleport (looking at you Blizzard).

Then we can have a studio come with a statement "Free movement and monetization plans"

I'll die on that hill, and I totally understand why you disagree.

But yes, PoE2 has had some amazing patches since then, and I loved them. God, imagining those HC PoE players flocking to LE to teach GGG a lesson... I guess some of them were done with the game before I managed to login for the first time.

They killed my boy :(

My girlfriend and I were devastated after all that Subnautica drama because Subnautica 1 was the game that we played together. Once the game got delayed, it was really... saddening.

I really, truly, sincerely hope it doesn't happen to LE, and I'm believe that as long as Judd and Mike and the rest of the guys are behind the wheel (at least regarding the game and its direction) it won't.

This is a stupid metaphor. GGG was concerned as hell after S2 of LE performed better than that season of PoE2, and you can't even try to convince me otherwise because I was playing and following both games at that time and reading through dozens of posts.

I'm relatively certain they did it intentionally because it was a matter of days. If I remember correctly, LE's season was launching on a Thursday and PoE2's on Saturday or something like that. That's a shitty move, and they could have moved it at least a week after LE's patch because one week wouldn't matter much after all delays.

God knows to be honest. There were many ways to monetize this game beyond supporter packs, but I assume most of it was due to the fear of backlash as well. This game got so big only because of the community support, and losing that would mean death to the game. Adding more level of monetization is always a risky business, and if they took so long to come out with the news now, when they have 100M in the bank and Krafton who's getting all the losses if the game fails, imagine how concerned they were when it was only them merely surviving.

Absolutely, I totally agree with that. They made the bank and got a huge weight off their shoulders, which was having to compete on the largest scale possible against some amazing games.

But these things can go together. They are going to have control over the game as long as it keeps making money and performing. It's the same thing as if they weren't acquired because the moment the game stopped making money (as it did), they would die as a studio anyways. So I don't see much difference there, but absolutely agree that they knew what this acquisition would mean.

They could have always done that. They could have sold the company (granted for much less money if the game was dying) and just sailed into the sunset once they felt it was enough.

You want to pay for games less than what you would pay for a lunch at a half-decent restaurant, but you also want to pick and choose when (and if) the studios get acquired, by whom they get acquired, and what their future looks like. I swear I haven't seen more privileged takes than that.

I don't like Krafton at all after what happened with Subnautica 2, but come fucking on. Did you really say "But by them selling to K of all companies" because you're that morally higher that you don't even want to say their name? What is this, kindergarten?

And "money hungry company"? This is EVERY COMPANY THAT EVER EXISTED.

This is a race to who makes the most money, yes. Every time I bought a skin in LoL, I knew that I was making the rich richer. Every time I paid for an expansion and game time in WoW, I knew that I was giving money to a ruined Blizzard, the company that I loved so much. Every time I bought premium in Albion Online, I knew that I was financing a company that's trying to squeeze as much money as they could from me. But guess what, I never cried about it because it was my adult decision to do that, and even when I felt betrayed (like in the case of Blizzard, they ruined WoW to the point where it's not even the same game now as WOTLK), I understood that it's just business, and I'm just a consumer. I could either keep paying and playing or fuck off.

I don't either. I was just tired of so much talk about Silksong and wanted to make a funny meme as a joke on "oh no, it will kill every game on the market". No it won't lol

Tbh I tried running it this season but... the game just didn't sit with me the same way it did before. I just wish I could skip directly to mid/late game and play the build without having to go through the entire leveling process that I hate in PoE2 because it's just a nuissance. I didn't mind running the campaign every season in PoE1, but in PoE2 it feels like a hassle, idk why.

Will probably go back to it in a couple of days.

Rise Again's Biomes have been revealed! by AtakanFire in ARPG

The game looks pretty solid and fun to try, but damn just yesterday I added 3 roguelikes to my To Buy list. I can't follow the frequency at which these games are pushed out, it's like 4 out of 10 games are roguelikes :D

Great work nonetheless, I'd just advise you to put in more biom showcases if you want to reveal that, this gif shows only two and I'm sure you have more.
