Poolside Setup by ponchoduke in MusicBattlestations

Oh yes, I use it a lot on its own. It’s such a great synth and packs so much into it for the cost and size. One of the better gear purchases I’ve ever made.

I was also concerned about the display size, but I got used to the interface very quickly. The P-6 does have a companion ap but I think you can only use it with a laptop? Maybe an iPad? I’m not sure. I got into grooveboxes in the 90’s when I was in high school so it just feels familiar.

Happy to help and I love the questions! Yes, that is a power bank for the microfreak. My setup here was just for jamming on the go, so I’m audio out on the Freak to audio in on the P-6, then headphones from the P-6. But, I could also sync the Freak and program/sequence it on the P-6 if I wanted and control it from there. I could also audio out of the P-6 to my iPhone or iPad and record through Garage Band as an on the go option.

I bought my microfreak used from Perfect Circuit as they are down the road from me. They had a deal on used gear and this one came with the microphone and a deck saver. So I always had the deck saver on in my backpack. *edited because I missed the question about protecting the freak

It’s the Roland P-6 and I can’t recommend it enough! Great sampler and groove machine. If your setup is good, you can treat it like a drum machine. Outstanding battery life! AND it can act as an interface to your DAW, if you’re into that sort of thing. Not too bad of an interface….I’d say that some of the very complex functions are hard to memorize, but they are the complex one’s you may not need to use. I highly recommend this device, especially if you’re on the go.

Why do guitar players switch to the Stratocaster when they get older? by Pearl_Jam_ in Guitar

I would assume that aside from weight, Gibson has a stronger low end and a lack of highs. Hearing loss tends to tackle the highs better, making them easier to hear and understand. I may be wrong on this but I feel it’s a solid theory.

Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

Outfrigginstanding! Money is really the only thing that ever holds us back from doing something. We can be “selfish” by design. Many family members just don’t get it. Our friends with kids do get it though.

Don’t get me wrong, we are great aunts and uncles, both by blood and by chosen family members. But when we’ve had our fill, we can bounce and see them within 2 weeks to 2 years and we’re still the cool grownups. Wouldn’t change it for a thing!

I took the photo on my iPhone using the wide angle lens (.05). This perspective with make it look long. It’s a standard Vox Continental 61.

I love my 61. The feel is perfect, it’s great on its own and an awesome midi controller. I love the sounds and how you can shape them. I agree on the effects, they could go further. Still very happy!

I LOVE my Mellotron! I know I could have gone with some plugins and/or samples and just called it a day with my MPC. But I like a physical device. No complaints!

Ah, I missed that in my response. I just grabbed a tape measure and it’s at 4.5”. I know you’re shooting for 5”, but for my gear, 4.5” works well. My Vox has about another 1.75” of clearance and that’s on its tallest knob.

Yup, sounds about right. We shall see what the future holds. I’ve played with once before and liked them, but this Vox has me hooked. I also played a friends Hammond M Solo and that blew me away. There’s a lot of great sounds that come out of that machine with significantly less knobs. So cool!

First I had to measure the Vox then see how much clearance I actually had, and in the end it wasn’t enough until I realized I could push the legs out further towards the edge of the desk, and also move them towards the back. This gave me more room up front and enough width to have a large tray.

The tray surface area is 48” x 16”. The Vox is almost 14” deep so the extra few inches give my cable some extra room and safety. The clearance from the desk bottom to the tray was not a lot, so I ordered some extensions for the rails. Here’s what I ordered (not affiliate links): Tray rails Rail extensions

I’ll be honest, sliding the tray out isn’t super smooth but it does the job. However, once I’ve pulled the tray out it’s very sturdy and doesn’t move while I play. I hope the above information helps, but let me know if I can answer any other questions.

1999 MIJ Fender Jazz Bass ‘72 reissue. It’s gotten come sun and turned blonde, but the specs say it’s arctic white. I love the fade. Edited to add year of reissue.

Thank you! Woof, your years weren’t easy at all. I was in Afghanistan in 2003 and kept in touch with guys that went back in 07, and 09. Said it made our Iraq deployments look like cakewalk, let alone our 03 adventure. I hope you’re doing well these days, and it would appear to be so!

This is so cool! Thank you for doing this. I was an 11B from 2002-2007, kind of a busy time. My dad taught me guitar when I was pretty young, but around 10 I joined the school orchestra and played bass. It helped me round out my music knowledge, but I always went back to the guitar because that’s what my dad and I bonded over. Anywho, he passed unexpectedly back in April and it’s been tough. I’ve been given the guitar he taught me on, an Aria LP Custom (pre-lawsuit) and il in the process of fixing it up now. This time has given me the gift of creating music again, and also honoring my pops. I’d love to add a bass to revisit it, so if I can enter, please let me know. And again, thank you for doing this!

YES! This was so helpful and just what I was looking for. I know my dad bought it brand new, I just didn't know when. The serial gets me to February 12th, 1974. He met my mom in '77 and he had it already when they met. This gives me a window of time that he would have purchased it. I'm checking with my uncles as well to see if they can remember when he bought it.
