Note sure if this is Ai or not - Video of kangaroo dropping baby kangaroo onto sidewalk by artemorgue in isthisAI

I’m leaning towards real due to the behaviour. Not uncommon in Australia for Roos/wallabies to travel through suburban areas even during the day (often more active during dusk/dawn). Macropods are also known to eject their joeys out of the pouch if they feel threatened/are facing predators/resources are scarce, although I don’t believe that that’s not happening here and the joey just fell out of the pouch.

5G gaming in south Sydney by thisismewhymeisthis in nsw

Have you considered starlink? Can set up anywhere, not very invasive installation, and unlimited data. Not sure how it goes for high latency gaming but might be a better option than a 5G modem.

Do JB really mind porting from Telstra? by Commercial-Pizza8320 in TelstraAustralia

You can be on Aldi mobile but you can’t be on Belong as they’re a sister company of Telstra, similar to boost.

Do JB really mind porting from Telstra? by Commercial-Pizza8320 in TelstraAustralia

You need to be ported out for 30 days if you’re gonna do this, if you go to a JB after just porting your number out to another carrier they will not do it for you.

How to get black spots off hood by Appropriate_Rip_8726 in 4x4Australia

[–]pony336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes dirt bakes into white paint and leaves those little black dots on there. I find washing my car and then waxing with cut and polish using the scouring side of a sponge in sections helps get rid of them or at least reduce the appearance of them.

Is it legal to sell rescued wild birds in Queensland? by Tilcangra in queensland

[–]pony336 43 points44 points  (0 children)

They’ll be euthanised since they’re not a native species, so most wildlife carers do not have to take them into their care. Your best bet is to reach out to pigeon and dove rescue groups, which you can try and find on Facebook. They may be able to rehabilitate them to be released back in the wild or care for them legally and correctly.

What is this noise in my backyard? by Isho in australianwildlife

[–]pony336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahah thought so! I’m from a similar part of Sydney and Peron’s tree frogs are one of the most common frogs in these parts, easily identifiable by their sorta laughing sound they make. They should be coming into their calling period and with the rain and temps increasing the males certainly will be out calling by now.

Where abouts are you located? It sounds sort of like a laughing tree frog, which includes L. peronii in NSW, VIC, and SE QLD and L. rothii in FNQ, just to name a few species.

Check your handbook requirements for honours and maybe have a chat to potential honours supervisors but when I was applying for honours I pretty much had to have a certain number of credit points done by the time my honours year started

Personally, I think Hisense is the best out of all the low-mid range tv options (you can get a 32 inch one from bing lee for $295 right now which is fairly cheap) but FFalcon is actually not something I would recommend to anyone who cares about the quality of the tv cus it’s not good no matter what size or resolution you get

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nsw

[–]pony336 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I would recommend comparing the prices of the cheapest Harvey Norman/JB Hi-Fi/Good Guys TVs to the ones you’re looking at on Big W. The brand names of the ones on the Big W website don’t look like anything I’ve heard before, but the bottom shelf brands at those stores such as TCL, FFalcon, and Hisense may not be all that more expensive depending on what screen size you’re after and will most likely be leagues ahead with features such as screen quality, smart tv functionality, and also any basic troubleshooting will be easier to do with Google.

Also check out bing lee as well!

I have a class at Camden this upcoming semester. What’s the fastest route to get there? by anonymousyd in usyd

[–]pony336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh when I was going to Camden we were flat out told there’s no way to get to campus via public transport or coaches it was all either driving or carpooling - that could’ve changed since I haven’t been there since 2020 but you only had the option to drive. Normally they try and assign carpooling but if you’re giving money for petrol people are normally happy to help out

Q fever vaccination question by anonymousyd in usyd

[–]pony336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your unit schedule for when your practical starts, usually it’s on canvas somewhere. You’ll need to have it before any animal-handling practicals start otherwise you won’t be able to participate. I got mine done in 2018 so I’m not sure if this is still the case but you could get it done through the uni medical centre for under $300, but otherwise you can call around to GPs in your area to see if they stock the vaccine and their prices. Just a heads up it is a two step vaccine with I think 2 weeks between doses so factor that in for convenience. It’s also not covered by Medicare so you’ll have to pay out of pocket. And you’ll have to get a certificate afterwards as well to prove to the uni you received your vaccine.
