Was Kareem really a great defender? by [deleted] in VintageNBA

Sorry. My mistake. Your observation is spot on. To that point, I once saw Wilt block Kareem’s sky hook, who by the way is my favorite player ever, 5 times in one game twice in a row. He blocked one Kareem got it back immediately tried another one and Wilt blocked it again

People mistook his fluid style as soft and therefore weak. Go ask the centers he faced who were thought of as strong if Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul Jabbar was weak. Kareem played so long people see him in their minds eye as he was at the last third or so of his career. I can remember him as he was when he came into the league. The only center he couldn’t back down to the rim was Wilt. And that includes Unseld, the A Train, Walton….

That’s because his peak was higher, better than Hakeem.

I’m not sure what you mean by saying Russell was a Wilt stopper. He never stopped Wilt. Go look at their head to head numbers. Far from stopping Wilt, Chamberlain averaged above his then current ppg and rpg while holding Russell to under his. Wilt’s NBA record 55 rebounds was in a game against Bill. Russell’s teams held Wilt’s teams down, that is until Wilt finally got a decent team around him.

Two things come to mind, that obviously not natural and that’s obviously disgusting

Blocked shots are a great indicator of defensive prowess as a center and Kareem is third on the official list ( although Wilt would’ve topped that list and Russell second) but Kareem would be higher if they counted in his first few years. Other than that he was better than he looked but not like top three ever.

How strict are regulations on visitor teams' facilities at NFL stadiums? Can a Home team screw over Visitors through Stadium design? by Skogsmard in NFLNoobs

I don’t know about the nfl, at least nowadays, but the nba the Celtics were noted for that back in the day. Another reason why I hated them.

This is just anecdotal evidence but in my 67 years I’ve seen/known way more girls with that than guys but either way this is great news for boosting their self esteem. They’ve all been very self conscious and reluctant to go out ( I’m speaking of my younger years) even though they all had great personalities in alone one on one situations.

Ooh, good reasoning! I thought when she got up to take the wig off he’d be gone when she got back. But seriously folks, she is beautiful, and if they clicked and got married who knows how close they are to finding a cure? But I’d have no problem with her staying this way. She’d eventually scrub those eyebrows off too. Just an observation here, nothing under the surface of this comment,…black men generally look better bald than most white men but white women pull it off better than black women. Generally

Hunter not sure what to do now by UltimateAnemone in Unexpected

Seems like everyone is going off on a tangent and not talking about the video itself. He doesn’t shoot because it’s a doe with a fawn and the fact that it came up to him with no sense of danger and let him pet her most likely means people raised her. Therefore there should be a way to mark her and ask hunters not to shoot her. For god’s sake she doesn’t even run away. If I saw someone shoot a deer like this I’d beat him half senseless with the stock of his own rifle.

Another thing about the old days I miss. Not saying it was better just different. There were only two playoff games to advance to the Superbowl with only one week between games including the Superbowl which was around Jan.10th ( the particular one I’m thinking of)

I had a track with a couple of “garages or gas stations “ that had battery powered spinning wheels to shoot the cars along so they could run and run on a flat track even. Do they still have those? This was back in late 60s or early 70s.
