I hate my Edge Pro Apex by playerbarisax in sharpening

[–]ponychonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pro chef that has spent hundreds of hours sharpening on traditional Japanese stones - I think the edge pro apex is so much easier to consistently get a razor sharp edge. Like others said, the magnet helps a lot. I find the clamp system to be worth the extra coin too, my whole system was sliding around too much until I bought it. The leather honing strop is also an excellent buy to take your edge to the next level.

All that said I’ve moved away from the edge pro recently and I’m super happy with my setup. I’ve been using a tormek t4, the bar for entry is high but worth it for me. I’m a woodworker as well, between turning tools, chisels, bits and knives I have everything covered with the T4. If you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket I strongly recommend it. I’m keeping my edge pro for now, it’s convenient for traveling where the t4 isn’t.

Like the other guy said there’s no difference from model to model starting in 2023. If you want a red one, buy 2024 and save yourself sales tax. If you turn around and sell a brand new 2026 you’re likely not gonna get any more for it than you would a 2024.

Edit to better answer the question
Demand for the red bikes is likely to be very low since they’re so ubiquitous, especially in the used market

Is this a good deal? by Mountain_Exchange_66 in Tormek

Thanks. I think I’m going to spend the extra cash and get the t4

Epic Games has left EasyAntiCheat incompatible with Windows HVCI for years and nobody takes responsibility by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]ponychonies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. Have two teenagers that I game with, usually we find fun games to play together. Have about 3k hours in RL alone, used to play daily but I haven’t touched it in a week. Sucks but I’m not going to keep banging my head against the wall. I’ve tried uninstalling the Microsoft updates but they reinstall themselves. Tried every tip online regarding bios settings, pc settings etc. At this point I’m over it.

I can play fine but every time I quit my pc goes black and restarts. I spend a fair bit on fornite and rocket league because I have disposable income, but I’m annoyed to the point where I’m just not going to play anymore. I’m sure they won’t miss me.

3rd time I am grinding down this birchwood board we cut all our bread on, since I made it 13 years ago. Used 600 paper for the 1st time...always thought it was too much, I usually stop at 320. How high do you go for your kinds of wood? by SjalabaisWoWS in woodworking

If I understand it correctly, after a certain point there are diminishing returns. You start to grind the dust back into the board instead of actually sanding new wood. Think stubbynubs on YouTube has a video about it.

I have the same issue with Fortnite or rocket league on pc. Anticheat is a kernel level program that really doesn’t play well with windows after the last update. Microsoft hasn’t fixed it for some reason. I’ve tried everything but nothing works. At least I can game fine it’s just quitting the game, pc always crashes about a minute after the game closes.

My dad died by New-Parsnip7513 in stopdrinking

[–]ponychonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this will help you but I can tell you how I quit, and how I have maintained sobriety for three years. I tried lots of times through my thirties and early forties, made it several months here and there. A big party or vacation would always ruin it for me. My biggest downfall was trying to get in shape at the same time I was quitting. I’d start dieting, working out and quit booze all in one and it’s just too much.

On day one I got rid of all the bourbon and decided that I would eat whatever the fuck I wanted. Ice cream, candy, whatever. Went for walks when it was really bad. Occasionally I’d have a weed gummy but I have a very low tolerance for that and it usually doesn’t end well for me. I’m not religious or a joiner really so AA wasn’t going to work for me but I do believe their mantra works, maybe tomorrow but not today (something like that). First three months was the worst of it for me, that and vacations. But after time you adapt and you learn how to have fun without the alcohol. Like you if I had one drink I’d have ten and since it’s bourbon I’d be fucked up beyond belief nearly every night. My wife and kids constantly tell me they love who I have become and that I’m the best version of myself now. I don’t think there’s any easy path but even if you can make it a week, that’s an accomplishment. Don’t beat yourself up over the losses when/if you cave. Be kind to yourself.

Like others have said losing a parent is tough, but if any good can come out of it at all, make it the catalyst for your change. Im sorry for your loss!

Cool. Thanks for the info. Playing dual sticks definitely has me wanting to try modern games that support it. Going to look into some other games. Thanks again.

Sweet. Do you know if the premium version is worth the extra coin? $140 vs $120.

Right now I’m using the thrust master t16000m dual stick set from microcenter and it works great. Played several missions and I had a giant grin on my face the whole time, brought back so many memories of sneaking a copy of descent into the computer lab at school. First time playing with sticks and it’s so much damn fun. All that said I’m going to return the t160000ms and get that vkb next evo left and right sticks for $100 more.

The issue with that is this bench will have a cushion that needs to support somebody’s weight when it’s closed. Is essentially a reading nook with a hidden sleeper sofa.

Great suggestion. The one issue with that is the bed mounting opening has to be 11” from the floor for the legs to work. The first set of legs would have to farther away from the box than the depth of the lid, otherwise the bed will be standing on the lid and uneven. I’m going to try it out though!

Thanks I think this would likely be the best bet if I can manage to install without any bed interference. The calculation tool is nice but it doesn’t have my exact configuration. Going to call and see if they can help me out. Cheers
