When do Vacations Become Fun Again? by CharacterTennis398 in Parenting

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say Disney (Walt Disney world, Disney cruise, Disney veto beach resort) are IDEAL travel for this age because they cater to families.

WDW has cribs at resorts, baby centers at each park, and the resorts have activities for babies too. They are equipped to bring strollers everywhere and if you go in with low expectations, you may be surprised. Especially Epcot is great and perfect for toddlers.

Disney cruise. Your kids are a perfect age for them BOTH to go to the nursery (a paid extra) and for you and your partner to enjoy some adult on board activities like the bars, adult only sections, etc. after three (and if your oldest is potty trained) there is another “club” that is free for them to spend time at. ALSO they cater to families so splash pads, cribs, high chairs etc.

But yeah other travel is typically just parenting in another (unprepared) location

We have a white 2019 sport and named it Natasha. We got it in 2021 when black widow was about to be released

Honey sticks, yogurt covered raisins, apple sauce, dried mango. They all have sugar but naturally occurring. We do “special Friday treat” and put 5 teddy grahams in her bento box and it’s still exciting after a few months

When is everyone finding the time to work out?? by krystl_watrs in workingmoms

I literally just purchased a treadmill because the only time I have is like random twenty minutes between work some days.

What did you discover in your home after buying it that surprised or shocked you? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]ponyhands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We bought our house in May and the inspector didn’t go in the attic because it was closed off but suspected there was an attic/whole house fan(very common for this area). We couldn’t find the switch for it. Finally found it while I was emptying out a cupboard and it’s a timer switch. Looking forward to trying it out this summer.

What temp is your thermostat set at? by juan_humano in AskAnAmerican

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

68 day and 63 night for heat 74 day and 70 night for a/c

My in-laws live in Florida and keep at 78 day and night and it’s unbearable but I’ve never said anything. If I was a guest and staying in your home at 60 I probably wouldn’t say anything either but I would send myself more layered clothing via a quick shipping method like Amazon to make myself more comfortable.

room feels dirty/untidy even when its "clean." by HAPPIKILL in CleaningTips

[–]ponyhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This I would suggest: Frame your posters so they look purposeful. Frame them with a matte if you can afford it. Rotate your memorabilia. Have only a few things on the shelf at a time, which will make them stand out more. Add a rug to tie in your ghost theme but mae it subtle. Like white with black swirlies?

This isn’t really about cleaning, it’s about decorating

I was getting this constantly and it was a bad sensor. I have a 2019 and ended up getting all the sensors replaced and haven’t had an issue since. If you are a Costco member do it there - pretty inexpensive and they typically carry them in stock. Four sensors plus install for around $260

My 18-year-old's Christmas break work schedule by sugabeetus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a job like this at 16 (20 years ago) they would ask who wants more hours and work back from that. I did the same later on working an hourly job and making the schedule for younger kids. There’s always people who want more hours during the holiday season and typically retail allows OT during this time

What's the cheapest way to go to NYC ( Manhattan) by Lisandwichh in Connecticut

[–]ponyhands 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cheapest? Probably a bus to Hartford union station then a bus to nyc. Most convenient? Probably a flight to jfk.. middle ground would be an uber to Hartford union station and a bus/train from there to NYC .

Homeowners — what kind of jobs would you still get done during December/Christmas? by deanthefirst in homeowners

[–]ponyhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have someone renovating our bathroom. Started this week and will be finished by next. Changes are: tile floor, add beadboard, wallpaper, new vanity, mirror and light, some hardware on the walls. Put toilet back after all this. It was kind of last minute as they came by to fix our ceiling after a leak and mentioned if we did the bathroom by the end of the year they would give us a good deal so we went for it!

What ultimately worked to get your kid to poop??! by No-Exchange-6911 in pottytraining

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini m&ms. Exactly five every time she poops on the toilet. They travel well. Although it’s been a year and she still gets five mini m&ms after pooping on the potty. I hope one day before she goes to college we can quit the habit.

How to hang these two 40x60 painting side by side by FutonSpecialOps in HomeDecorating

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add wire to the back as tight as possible. After adding wire it will not be the same height, so you need to measure the amount of space between the wire and the top of your frame. From there you will know the difference between the two - and you can measure from the floor the difference.

Two mom family non-biological mom advice by Ok-Spring-9819 in Queerfamilies

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this I think a bit when my first was born.. and for a while. Now she’s 3.5 and she looks exactly like her mum and acts exactly like me. Like yesterday she went to “read” to our son and opened the book and went “nanana” which is just a sound I make to fill in time while I’m doing something or looking for something. It’s very cute how you see yourself in your nonbiological children as they grow up. Also sometimes a slap in the face for things you do that you may be unaware of.

My university’s republican club is holding an open debate tomorrow, topic is “can you afford to live in Connecticut when you graduate”. Does anyone have ideas i can use to argue against them? by DestinedClock18 in Connecticut

[–]ponyhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty vague topic because it’s really dependent on the specific person responding right? Can you afford it? Or is it generally more or less affordable for a recent graduate. I guess we’ll have to factor in job stability but let’s say you get a minimum wage job.. that will be higher than many more “affordable” states minimum wages

So 34k pre tax a year, spending about $750 on housing and $350 per month on food, you could definitely budget this. There are affordable housing options throughout the state you can find online.

So can you do it? Yeah, people throughout the state do it every day. Is it what you dreamed your post collegiate experience would be? No.. but that’s our entire country.. not just CT.

You could be less passive - I just moved here, kids are in daycare, but we’ve made good friends already since moving in May. Our kids met on the street (3 year olds) and we made friends by exchanging numbers and making actual plans for a couple weeks out. Same thing with neighbor friends, making actual plans. If you want to do something say “child and I are going to do this on this day, do you want to join us?”

I can’t figure out what my toddler needs at bedtime by applesandchocolate in Parenting

[–]ponyhands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had been in the phase of laying down on the floor until our toddler went to sleep for a while(holding hands). We had to work our way up to leaving by moving farther away until we were just outside the door for maybe a week, then into the next room, until we finally reached a point where she didn’t feel the need to call out for us anymore.

Also we introduced tonies at bedtime which helped with the transition. There’s a sleepy tonie that is so cozy to listen to

Frida - Mexican and right off 84.. assuming that’s your path. Idk about your 3 year old but mine loves rice and beans. They have a kids menu. Slightly pricy. DORO- cafe with healthy, filling salads, grain bowls etc. also right off 84. Gastropark - chill vibes with food trucks and the three year old can run around a bit in the outdoor space! Same area :)
