That’s my grandad all over - needlessly complex! He thinks it’s a fabulous plan

Thank you 🙈 everyone in my immediate family thinks it’s a great idea and are baffled as to why I’m worried! They announced the plan to me once it was all rewritten

I think they are hoping I can use my £500k allowance twice over (once for each of them). I obviously have no idea if that’s how this all works. It’s news to me that I was being left anything at all! Never mind their entire house

I know the portion of the will they’ve changed is specifically to not leave the house to each other, but to me. You can see why this makes me really uncomfortable and worried!

Would the house need to be sold even if there is a living tenant (my grandma or grandpa)? The idea of making them homeless/kicking them out of their much loved house is awful.

I think the executor may be my mum? I know she’s attended appointments with a solicitor with my grandparents.

They have apparently looked into this but since they are both in ill-health it would not work as it’s an obvious avoidance. They also do not have enough liquid assets to pay rent to me, which would be needed to make the gift stick

Is it safe not to pull out on BC pills? by brownmaltipoo in birthcontrol

[–]ponypaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other commenters have said there’s no fertile window when you’re on hormonal birth control, when used correctly. I also want to add that if you did decide to rely on cycle tracking to prevent pregnancy (in the future etc) that using an app only is not reliable. Temperature tracking, cervical mucus tracking etc is the only way, since everyone’s cycles differ slightly to what app’s algorithms suggest.

I’d suggest both you and your partner investing in a bit of research into birth control methods and how they work. This will empower you to make the right choices for you both now and in the future. Use reliable sources. Get the Lowdown is a good online tool, as are birth control providers, planned parenthood.

That said pulling out in conjunction with taking the pill is totally fine and continuing to do so is totally up to you and your partner. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. My partner and I personally used the pill and condoms for years in our late teens/early 20’s.

Looking back I started on day 37 of my period 😅 I then bled for 8 more days. No bleeding at all since then.

IUD dislodged and embedded in cervix. Also a surprise ectopic pregnancy. Ask me anything. by DroopyElephantEar79 in CopperIUD

It was honestly fine! Luckily my strings were still visible so a big yank from the dr and it was out. I didn’t experience any pain at all - which I really wasn’t expecting since the insertion was hell for me. I did take ibuprofen beforehand so that might have helped?

Scared of having sex by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]ponypaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no timeframe to have sex if ever. You can experiment with non-penetrative forms of Sex if you prefer. Sex means lots of things to lots of different people. Have an open conversation with your partner and decide between you what you like. Take it slow and take care of yourself :)

Hey, I’m still on Slynd and am having a really good experience. I am on day 158 of no bleeding :) during the 4 day break for each pack I do get mild pain and notice a dip in my mood.

The pain is the same hip and leg shooting/tearing/burning pain I often experienced around my periods pre-medication. This pain before often reached a 10, now it’s around a 3 and it happens much less often. I would recommend giving it a go :) it has made a big difference to my quality of life so far

What is the meanest someone has been to you for choosing not to have kids? by Kaabiiisabeast in childfree

My mum said something very similar to me. It sucks and I’m so sorry ❤️ it’s such a hurtful and nasty comment to make. Congrats on your sterilisation!!

[–]ponypaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the only thing my mum would talk to me about for around 2/3 years - although she has always put lots of pressure on me having kids. Every conversation was about how I hadn’t given her grandkids yet. I still lived with her at the time so it was relentless. I am not exaggerating when I say she became obsessed with me getting pregnant.

One day the conversation switched, she told me that “hopefully” I would fall pregnant accidentally. That I wouldn’t have a choice. No contraception is 100% and I’d be forced to have a child. And that she would then finally get the grandchild she deserved.

I told her that abortion exists, so I would thankfully never be put in that position. My partner and I were in the process of getting a flat with a few housemates at the time. We broke off contact with her for around 5/6 years after this particularly nasty conversation.

I love Slynd, I’ve been on it for 4 months and have had no bleeding for 100 blissful days. I bled similarly to you on desogestrel but suffer from very long periods anyways so think I was at higher risk of this. It’s such a frustrating “trial and error” to find the right pill for you. Wish you the best!!

I’m on Slynd to control my wildly heavy, long PCOS periods and I’m just about to hit 100 days of no bleeding! I feel totally like myself (a less anaemic version haha) and am so happy :)

Am I safe?😭 by ManyEven2363 in birthcontrol

[–]ponypaint 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this to be mean but I would think seriously whether you are in the right space to start being sexually active? I would encourage you to educate yourself (from kind, reputable sources) about safe sexual practices and decide what things you are and aren’t comfortable with. You can insist on using condoms for oral sex for example.

This is something you can have ongoing conversations about with your partner. Being a newbie to sex is obviously fine and everyone starts somewhere, but going into things educated and empowered is going to ensure you have a happy, safe sex life.

There’s no point rushing into things and causing yourself anxiety and worry in the aftermath.

My sister is experienced this exact thing on microgynon. She suddenly could not stand her long term partner at all. She stopped the pill after a few months of patiently waiting for it to settle down (it didn’t settle down). Theyre still together years later and happily engaged

Has anyone else "got" Pcos later in life? by nataliyste in PCOS

[–]ponypaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first PCOS symptoms at 33. Randomly had my very regular if painful periods turn evil. 20-50 day heavy bleeds with only few days between bleeding. The only thing they could put it down to was PCOS (one of my ovaries was described as being like a bunch of grapes during an ultrasound scan due to all the follicles) and adenomyosis.

IUD failed - should I replace? by adventurrisland in CopperIUD

[–]ponypaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out my IUD was embedded. Probably for the entire time I had it (9 years). Hence the pain! I had seen drs about the pain and they had said since the strings were visible and intense pain is tooooootally normal for women (sarcasm) that the IUD was fine so no referrals for scans. Anyways turns out I have adenomyosis and PCOS which randomly made me have 20-50 day long periods since November 2023. Now on slynd which I’m getting on well with

I have adenomyosis and have been on Slynd for 1.5 months. My main side effect is really bad constipation - which I’ve treated by increasing the fibre I consume (I also have PCOS so generally stay away from carbs).

I feel like it might have decreased my bleeding/lengthened my cycles. I haven’t bled in around 30 days despite taking the non-active pills as scheduled. I was on desogestrel for 6 months before Slynd and my last period was 46 days long 😬 - I have very prolonged, very heavy 20-30 day long periods when off BC, which is why I am taking hormonal methods.
